I know it's the norm, especially in FPS, so why does it have to be like that in RPG? In FPS it feels more natural, you looking down the barrel of your gun, searching for a target..But in D&D-themed RPGS...Geh, I just can't get the feel of it. It's so stiff and bland. You swing your weapon in..How many ways? Two, like in Morrowind? (Didn't play Oblivion, so can't reference that).

I wish we had sword-fight combos, or something with atleast a bit more flow. My dream would be The Witcher meets Arkham Asylym. In B:AA, fighting was the simplest thing, but DAMN did it feel awesome, and YOU felt awesome too.
Well sadly not all dreams come true. But that combat was never an aspect of ES anyway... as awesome as it would be so I never expect such a change. Besides, the likes of the witcher is a massive exception to the general rule of RPG's. If you want combat with combos and dances you would best look in the Hack n Slash genre...

Yes, it looks good, but so does most trailers. I was disappointed that they STILL haven't gotten rid of that annoying first-person fighting mode where you click to slash with your sword, about as unimmersive as it gets. Magic is still just your hands and a ball rushing forth. Geh.

...Probably going to end up buying it anyway, like the sucker I am.
*Click to shoot a gun *Click to attack there *Click to ZOMGWTFBBQ... It's the norm really. I'm just saying.

Also, if you watched the trailer you would see there is also an AOE flame magic attack that is cast around the player. But beyond that the devs said there will "bolt attacks" that travel further, "Stream attacks" that have a wider arc of effect and cause steady damage (but shorter range), and "charged attacks" that magnify any of the above. I do believe they also said that the different elements will have different affects on a target (like flame causing damage over time and frost causing paralysis or damaging certain attributes)

In the older pc elder scrolls game's you clicked and moved your mouse for the type of swing (correct me if I'm wrong). In Morrowind for xbox your type of swing depended on how you were moving (ran around enemies slashing them with dwarven short sword). Oblivion was a little more click to swing for me, but they had the power swing and sheild walls.

Hmm. I could hear that word of Dragonborn repeated at least twice in the trailer. Anyone bothered to actually listen if the text has some meaning, either faux-latin or obscure Tamriel languages?
This video has part of the lyrics. Most of the remaining lyrics are in the description on YouTube.

Why not try to innovate? Something tells me that the only thing they have changed will be - yet again - the graphics, giving combat and what not only a minor tweak. Sorry, but backpeddling with your hands infront of you, casting fireballs is something we did back in early nineties.

..I can't remember the game now, but you could play a Paladin with a Mace, a Witchhunter with a crossbow, and a Wizard. Was sort of a Doom-clone, quite awesome for the time, actually.

Oh wow... This looks absolutely gorgeous... Absolutely, fan-frakin'-tastic gorgeous....
Ok, now I just *know* that I'll be breaking the piggy bank in November to beef up my rig, because I wanna run this gem as smoothly as possible. And the music, oh gosh, the music!! Mister Soule strikes again.

Can I be a giant pain, and complain about the hero being male *again*? Couldn't we have a female Valkyrie-esque hero?
Yea, I kinda agree with you on that. The only reason I say kind of is because I fear that if that was the case, she would be the "melon-chested" kind. :S

Anywho, I think I will probably upgrade my my for this game. If the game plays anything like the trailer, it will put all other RPG's (and games in general) to shame.

I'm worried...I'm worried that this won't feel like the other elder scrolls because of the changes not only to character creation, but also gameplay. Bethesda keeps scaling back the customization options of characters and the overall size of the game, sure it looks better, but there was a feel in Morrowind and Daggerfall that you character was a part of that world. He(or she) could be anything, a mage, a thief, a knight and it seemed like he actually existed within that world. As Bethesda has continues on with the Elder Scrolls series they've been scaling back the scope of each game, as well as the player's options to create a character unique to that world. I could be absolutely wrong and have been in the past, maybe this game will be super-badass but I just wanted to express my tentativeness for this title.

I was getting a very Shadow of the Colossus-style vibe from that. I mean, he kills the boss character and then absorbs some swirly misty type thing (presumably related to the `Dragon Shouts')?

Anyway, I didn't think the visuals were that impressive; too uncanny valley. It still looks awesome though...
God dammit! Will people never be satisfied? I thought Dovahkiin looked amazing and so did everything else! Besides, I think they said they are adapting a new style of conversations, so no more creepy staring (thank fuck for that)!

. Also hopefully there wont be anything equivalent to the Oblivion Gates thing, you know when you have to do like a million of them.
How about... DRAGONS!?

Nope it says skyrim, and i see again that boring colour scheme.

If games can be colourful and beautiful than why do they put shitty boring colours into them.
I'd find it quite strange if my epic medieval fantasy adventure looked like an LSD trip.

Holy shit! What is this?...

OT: Now I'm even more excited about this. It looks pretty awesome so far. Of course ME3 comes first, but after?

I begin the adventure of my life in the land of Skyrim!

Yeah I saw the Harry Skyrim video, what of it?

Draconic actually. Or Dragonish. Or w/e.

Anyway, Bethseda actually created a whole language for the game. All the singing in the trailers we've seen is in that language. Supposedly it was a big task because they wanted to make sure it was consistent. All the Shouts will all be in Dragon as well, and they actually translate to something relative to what they do.

For example a shout to blast back your enemy roughly translates to "Divine Wind of something"
Won't it be Nordic? There are quite a few languages in Tamriel (and Mundus in general, but I don't think they've given us anything from non Tamrielic ones). If it sounds Latin-esque it's probably Aylied.

Well. I just came.

Glad to see Bethesda are still making the same generic game over and over again. That same ridiculously-good-looking game.

I genuinely dont think I'm even going to mind when it arrives with maybe 15 distinct NPCs with only 4 voices between them. OK, I'll mind a bit, but come on. That looked good.

In fact, it looked like the original Dragon Age Origins trailer in some ways, with the profound difference being that this is quite clearly in-game footage and not something totally at odds with the game experience itself.

I suggest we all wait to see how stable/unstable the game engine is before we get too excited.
I suggest we accept that the game engine WILL be horribly unstable and remain excited regardless.
