I know it's the norm, especially in FPS, so why does it have to be like that in RPG? In FPS it feels more natural, you looking down the barrel of your gun, searching for a target..But in D&D-themed RPGS...Geh, I just can't get the feel of it. It's so stiff and bland. You swing your weapon in..How many ways? Two, like in Morrowind? (Didn't play Oblivion, so can't reference that).

I wish we had sword-fight combos, or something with atleast a bit more flow. My dream would be The Witcher meets Arkham Asylym. In B:AA, fighting was the simplest thing, but DAMN did it feel awesome, and YOU felt awesome too.
Well sadly not all dreams come true. But that combat was never an aspect of ES anyway... as awesome as it would be so I never expect such a change. Besides, the likes of the witcher is a massive exception to the general rule of RPG's. If you want combat with combos and dances you would best look in the Hack n Slash genre...
Why not try to innovate? Something tells me that the only thing they have changed will be - yet again - the graphics, giving combat and what not only a minor tweak. Sorry, but backpeddling with your hands infront of you, casting fireballs is something we did back in early nineties.

..I can't remember the game now, but you could play a Paladin with a Mace, a Witchhunter with a crossbow, and a Wizard. Was sort of a Doom-clone, quite awesome for the time, actually.
According to the devs (and from what I could see in the trailers) they want to add more weight to the combat to make it more visceral. This is also why they added animated kills (such as digging the axe into a body, or stealth kills etc). This applies to the spells too, they want magic to feel powerful, so a thunderbolt could knock someone off their feet or a jet of flame will send enemies recoiling in pain. The trailer shows some of these things actually.

I never look to bethesda for innovation. Rather, I look to for making good-great adventure games.

Rather then getting you're hopes up, all I can say is wait and see. There are more trailers and sneak peeks to come.

For something on topic; yes, it does look awesome. I would love to see those models walk diagonally though

Hmm. I could hear that word of Dragonborn repeated at least twice in the trailer. Anyone bothered to actually listen if the text has some meaning, either faux-latin or obscure Tamriel languages?
This video has part of the lyrics. Most of the remaining lyrics are in the description on YouTube.

Nonsense it's pure english, the translation is right here:

HEY GUISE HASNT ANYONE NOTICED THAT THEIR COLOUR PALETTE CONSISTS OF BROWN,GREY AND GREEN? AGAIN.

Seriously bethseda l2art.
I agree that Morrowing and especially Oblivion where lacking in the concept art and art direction department, but this looks pretty good so far. The nordic focus, full of runes and inscriptions, as well as the environments and all the like look good to me. I mean I'm not blown away, but it's a vast improvement over Oblivion. The yellow-red forest alone is already better than anything Oblivion achieved in terms of scenery.
Morrowind had good art direction. More colour than oblivion, but also alot of strange and otherwordly things, and a nice handcrafted world giving it some sort of soul.
I don't see the issue with the colour palette in this game. It seems as though each region will have its own distinct flavour. Morrowind was an Oddity and not something that encompasses Elder Scrolls. The world of Tamriel isn't some alien place and if I was to be frank, I'd say Morrowind sticks out like a sore thumb. As for a colourful work of art as you seem to think it is, you may have forgotten that most the land of morrowind is a charred wasteland. Oblivion had a hugely varied colour palette to the point of obscenity. It seems skyrim is toning back the colour palette as it was far too cartoon like in Oblivion.

Animated kills might help out, but I hope they balance the combat out in general. I can't once again speak for Oblivion, but Morrowind was sad. Just summon all your creatures and let them do the fighting for you, not to mention the bug where you could loot your own summoned creatures on XBOX.

I was going to buy this no matter what. Now I just want to freeze myself until it comes out. Malfunctioning Xbox and travel plans be damned.

Damn. This comes out when i'm starting university. My life is ruined but i'll be happily wasting my life away in Skyrim :D. Also lets hope it gets the same modding treatment as oblivion and thus we'll never want for any other form of entertainment ever again.

I'm just hoping that the rumours I heard are actually true and that they are putting in religious plotting again. This time probably about whether Alduin is the same figure as Auriel and Akatosh and a bit more detail about the Nord's grudge with him.

Ah, well. It will take, what, a month, until someone mods the water?
If shinyness is the biggest problem with this game, I'll be perfectly happy.

Christ... 8 more months. I dont think I can wait that long. I think I have to freeze myself just like Cartman waiting for the Wii.

Either that or I can spend my time on a quest to reclaim my soul from Bioware and sell it to Bethesda.

Looks to be the game to watch, I can't imagine it will be too different from the other Elder Scrolls games, which is fine by me. Though hopefully this time around they'll have more than four voice actors.
