What I meant was that earlier books described Cyrodiil as being a tropical jungle and the Empire as Roman. That clearly wasn't the case anymore. There were a lot of smaller changes as well, to the gods and myths, though I can excuse those as heresies and alternative legends.Burningsok said:I agree with the level scaling completely. It should go back to what Morrowind was. However, Oblivion never changed the entire world. It's only part of Tamriel. Maybe Morrowind was a hot bed for diversity in culture. Landscape was diverse as well because of Red Mountain and how it was drastically different compared to the rest of the land. Cyrodiil didn't have as much difference in culture probably because of the heavy Imperial influence. idk man. In the end it's all about difference in taste.Eldan said:My problem with that was that Oblivion didn't have much to explore. Level scaling meant that there was never much danger for your character, as every monster was appropriate and there was not much interesting treasure to find, only randomly generated stuff.Burningsok said:So wait, RPG's should look like FF?? Ummm this is medieval fantasy bud. If you tried to make the land of Skyrim or Cyrodill more *alien like* it wouldn't be The Elder Scrolls. A story was already written for this series and trying to change it up now would just throw the entire story and world outta wack. Complaining about the color palette??... *laughs hysterically* FF... how fucking boring. (the recent ones at least.)Novs said:Morrowinds oddity is what make the game good. The world of tamriel should be an alien place.Ragsnstitches said:I don't see the issue with the colour palette in this game. It seems as though each region will have its own distinct flavour. Morrowind was an Oddity and not something that encompasses Elder Scrolls. The world of Tamriel isn't some alien place and if I was to be frank, I'd say Morrowind sticks out like a sore thumb. As for a colourful work of art as you seem to think it is, you may have forgotten that most the land of morrowind is a charred wasteland. Oblivion had a hugely varied colour palette to the point of obscenity. It seems skyrim is toning back the colour palette as it was far too cartoon like in Oblivion.Novs said:Morrowind had good art direction. More colour than oblivion, but also alot of strange and otherwordly things, and a nice handcrafted world giving it some sort of soul.Brotherofwill said:I agree that Morrowing and especially Oblivion where lacking in the concept art and art direction department, but this looks pretty good so far. The nordic focus, full of runes and inscriptions, as well as the environments and all the like look good to me. I mean I'm not blown away, but it's a vast improvement over Oblivion. The yellow-red forest alone is already better than anything Oblivion achieved in terms of scenery.Novs said:HEY GUISE HASNT ANYONE NOTICED THAT THEIR COLOUR PALETTE CONSISTS OF BROWN,GREY AND GREEN? AGAIN.
Seriously bethseda l2art.
Why?
Because weve all seen those shitty generic grey, brown, and green fantasy landscapes with forests castles and knights. How fucking boring.
Oblivion did not have colour variety. It was green everywhere, with grey towns, and brown parts.
And lol Oblivion isnt cartoon like at all. WoW is cartoon like, Fable is cartoon like, and oblivion is nowhere near those 2 games.
Oblivion art direction is amateur and generic.
*slight change of heart*
BUT WAIT... I will agree with you that Morrowind was beautiful. It ranks as one of my top 3 greatest games ever imo. It's what got me into RPG's. And... I understand having things look alien like; it adds a twist and makes the world interesting in it's own way. Thing is, it's been done a lot as well. WoW, FF, other MMOs, majority of Japanese games. As for Oblivion, I loved it. yeah sure I noticed a major of the land scape was similar, but I could care less. I love the exploring part of it all.
Furthermore, I've said it before, and I will say it again: Elder Scrolls aren't supposed to be based on Medieval times. At least, they weren't before Oblivion came out and changed the entire world.

I want it I want it I want it. Good bye Morrowind, Good bye Halo Reach, good bye Fable 3.
Sorry for any offensive language, I just wanted to get my point across.
I might but I just really don't have the money right now, anyways my friends will be pissed if I'm not on XBL drooling with them when it comes out. And I agree completely, Mass Effect 3 will sit on my shelf for about five months before being played.lithium.jelly said:That's exactly what I'll be playing this on. And it's really not that expensive, why not get one in the next six months? You don't need an absolute top-of-the-line cutting edge video card, and going one or two steps down from cutting-edge will halve the cost of the whole PC. I just hope either they fix the poor-looking water before release, or the water looks better on PC.CATS FTW said:Imagine this game on a fully beefed up PC!
As for the rest of that trailer, well, my reaction on another thread about this was:

Shit, I didn't even realize that. Watch it without the sound.VondeVon said:That was the yawniest yawn-fest I ever yawned at.
Ugly brown-grey 'olde world' clothing? Check. The King of cliches: a dragon? Check.
Lots of grunting and sword noises? Check. That could have been any scene from any half-assed fantasy game in the last five years. I'll probably buy it anyway, but I'm keeping the receipt.
