HEY GUISE HASNT ANYONE NOTICED THAT THEIR COLOUR PALETTE CONSISTS OF BROWN,GREY AND GREEN? AGAIN.

Seriously bethseda l2art.
I agree that Morrowing and especially Oblivion where lacking in the concept art and art direction department, but this looks pretty good so far. The nordic focus, full of runes and inscriptions, as well as the environments and all the like look good to me. I mean I'm not blown away, but it's a vast improvement over Oblivion. The yellow-red forest alone is already better than anything Oblivion achieved in terms of scenery.
Morrowind had good art direction. More colour than oblivion, but also alot of strange and otherwordly things, and a nice handcrafted world giving it some sort of soul.
I don't see the issue with the colour palette in this game. It seems as though each region will have its own distinct flavour. Morrowind was an Oddity and not something that encompasses Elder Scrolls. The world of Tamriel isn't some alien place and if I was to be frank, I'd say Morrowind sticks out like a sore thumb. As for a colourful work of art as you seem to think it is, you may have forgotten that most the land of morrowind is a charred wasteland. Oblivion had a hugely varied colour palette to the point of obscenity. It seems skyrim is toning back the colour palette as it was far too cartoon like in Oblivion.
Morrowinds oddity is what make the game good. The world of tamriel should be an alien place.

Why?

Because weve all seen those shitty generic grey, brown, and green fantasy landscapes with forests castles and knights. How fucking boring.

Oblivion did not have colour variety. It was green everywhere, with grey towns, and brown parts.

And lol Oblivion isnt cartoon like at all. WoW is cartoon like, Fable is cartoon like, and oblivion is nowhere near those 2 games.

Oblivion art direction is amateur and generic.
So wait, RPG's should look like FF?? Ummm this is medieval fantasy bud. If you tried to make the land of Skyrim or Cyrodill more *alien like* it wouldn't be The Elder Scrolls. A story was already written for this series and trying to change it up now would just throw the entire story and world outta wack. Complaining about the color palette??... *laughs hysterically* FF... how fucking boring. (the recent ones at least.)

*slight change of heart*
BUT WAIT... I will agree with you that Morrowind was beautiful. It ranks as one of my top 3 greatest games ever imo. It's what got me into RPG's. And... I understand having things look alien like; it adds a twist and makes the world interesting in it's own way. Thing is, it's been done a lot as well. WoW, FF, other MMOs, majority of Japanese games. As for Oblivion, I loved it. yeah sure I noticed a major of the land scape was similar, but I could care less. I love the exploring part of it all.
My problem with that was that Oblivion didn't have much to explore. Level scaling meant that there was never much danger for your character, as every monster was appropriate and there was not much interesting treasure to find, only randomly generated stuff.

Furthermore, I've said it before, and I will say it again: Elder Scrolls aren't supposed to be based on Medieval times. At least, they weren't before Oblivion came out and changed the entire world.
I agree with the level scaling completely. It should go back to what Morrowind was. However, Oblivion never changed the entire world. It's only part of Tamriel. Maybe Morrowind was a hot bed for diversity in culture. Landscape was diverse as well because of Red Mountain and how it was drastically different compared to the rest of the land. Cyrodiil didn't have as much difference in culture probably because of the heavy Imperial influence. idk man. In the end it's all about difference in taste.
What I meant was that earlier books described Cyrodiil as being a tropical jungle and the Empire as Roman. That clearly wasn't the case anymore. There were a lot of smaller changes as well, to the gods and myths, though I can excuse those as heresies and alternative legends.
Still. Mehrunes Dagon is the lord of natural disasters, there's other daedra lords for sending armies.

The Game will be 60 percent better if Creatures physically React to being hit by your sword, and bow and arrow, and if a rather large creature hits you, you get knocked back like in Bioshock.
Just sayin' it's all about the immersion for me, and nothings more real than seeing your sword bounce off or stab someone.

I really want them to give the Dunmer cool voices again. In oblivion their voices were weak and pussy, in Morrowind they truly sounded like the outcast elves, the one's on the moral edge, and they sounded awesome too.

also, I think I already said this, in Morrowind each culture had a very distinct architecture (Velothi, Redoran, Telvani, Temple, Imperial). In Oblivion it was all castles and the towns all looked alike (with the exception of Bruma). There was also in depth details about history's, and religion that absorbed me into the universe of the game. Also, there weren't many village's dotting the lush country side (Ascandian isle's, West Gash region), or dangerous foreboding wildernesses (Ashlands, Molag Amur) that actually made you constantly look over your shoulder(thanks to the cliff racer).

To me the combat felt real in Morrowind (Although arrow's flew funny). The level scaling was perfect, if you leveled up you could meet more powerful monster's, but the weak one's didn't go away, and dungeons had set level's ranging from lvl 1-lvl 50 (meaning you could still run into trouble when exploring).

These are things I want Skyrim to have that Oblivion took away from me.

I would make love to this game, sweet, sensual, sensitive love.
Then I would start a serious relationship with it, and bring it to meet my parents, maybe buy a dog with it too.

Imagine this game on a fully beefed up PC!
That's exactly what I'll be playing this on. And it's really not that expensive, why not get one in the next six months? You don't need an absolute top-of-the-line cutting edge video card, and going one or two steps down from cutting-edge will halve the cost of the whole PC. I just hope either they fix the poor-looking water before release, or the water looks better on PC.
As for the rest of that trailer, well, my reaction on another thread about this was:

I'm sorry, Bioware, I'm leaving you... For your hotter sister, Bethesda.
I might but I just really don't have the money right now, anyways my friends will be pissed if I'm not on XBL drooling with them when it comes out. And I agree completely, Mass Effect 3 will sit on my shelf for about five months before being played.

So, in the part just after a minute when our man Dovahkiin dusts himself off and shouts at the dragon in time with the music, I actually screamed. I went, "YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAH"
This might be the most ludicrously epic trailer I've ever seen, and the world is better off because of it. Needless to say, I'm sold on it.

with each passing game they seem to take the theme and make it epic-er. Morrowind's was quite quaint and laid back, Oblivion's was more about action, now it seems it's hyped up on every combat enhancing drug known to man!

That was the yawniest yawn-fest I ever yawned at.

Ugly brown-grey 'olde world' clothing? Check. The King of cliches: a dragon? Check.
Lots of grunting and sword noises? Check. That could have been any scene from any half-assed fantasy game in the last five years. I'll probably buy it anyway, but I'm keeping the receipt.

Shit, I didn't even realize that. Watch it without the sound.
It's not Elder Scrolls anymore. There's nothing that's really world-specific in it.

That's frightening, really.

I've been blubbering like an invalid for about twenty minutes now.

Holy...Shitting...Fuck...or something to that effect.

Writing November off the calendar...

EDIT: Why's everyone bitching about the water? It doesn't look that bad, and the visuals are gorgeous.
