The part of this that terrifies me is how flawed Oblivion was.
Not just how flawed Oblivion was, but how broken, imbalanced, unimmersive, repetitive, and flat out ugly it could be... and STILL mercilessly DEVOUR hundreds of hours of my life in a manner that I look fondly upon for the experience had.

So back to what terrifies me, the sheer life that Skyrim could steal away without me knowing any better if they improve even remotely upon a paltry third the issues Oblivion had.

Saw this video just before the trailer itself and while usualy i'm not the type getting to exited about trailers - well - ohmygoshwhatthefu**itwasabouttime
In my opinion Elder Scrolls is nothing less but the ultimate (digital) rpg series, wich never isn't stagnating but always improving and excelling in every discipline and THAT'S NOT TO ARGUE!

I'm willing to make an edit here: I agree that Oblivion had its mistakes, errors and imbalances but at least it tried something a bit different and the hell it still was better than everything else at that time and i'm optimistic, that they have learned from it and will do it even better this time!

I hope they have all the 10 races in it, I am an insane Argonian fanboy.
Argonians......liked them in Morrowind as they had weird lizard legs and walked funny and the armour didnt fit them. :) Pity they made them have normal legs in Oblivion. What i want added is special Argonian armour so everything fits and looks awesome.
Yes, they were awesome in Morrowind. By far their best design in the TES series (it always changes a lot, doesnt it ?). I liked that almost all the native Dark Elves were racist to you, it gaves playing Argonian an unique feeling. If you dig deeper in their lore, the whole "nature people thrown into civilisation" is also wellmade.

In Oblivion they "streamlined" them, but they were sill very likeable.

Lets hope they make a return in Skyrim. Since Argonians might be cold blooded, we would not see many of them anyway.

Looks awesome. Can't wait.

I had so much fun with Oblivion (despite never actually finishing it; that game is just crazy long.

With ME3 and Skyrim both coming out, 11/11/11 is going to be a huge day in the gaming world for fans of epic storytelling.

I'm so glad they moved away from the aged Gamerbryo engine and onto the Creation Engine.

Honestly? looks like oblivion with new textures... or how they show'd Oblivion was going to look when they first announced it...

The video is great, story sounds interesting... but...
Don't really care about cutscenes when I'm looking at the game. I didn't like Oblivion simply because it felt old... it brought me back to the days of Morrowind in gameplay, and while that gameplay was great for its time, there have been many more great games since...

From what little gameplay we saw, it looks like the same old Oblivion mechanics, and to me they feel robotic... all the weapons feel the same, and seems if i dual wield, its just another weapon mirrored on the other side... While the game wasn't great, I thought Dark Messiah captured the sword and shield fps much better then oblivion did.. Battles were just more... fun... i just hope bethesda isn't in their own world when it comes to designing such things...

Don't get me wrong.. I really hope they prove me wrong with gameplay, but with the release of Oblivion being much less then I anticipated (even less then they promised)... I'll believe it when I see it. Of course that's not going to stop everyone saying its the best game that has ever been created... but I have a much more critical view when it comes to single player only rpgs... when on earth will someone create dynamic worlds? :p

Hooray for Happy Harry, just had to mention I recognized the animation

The neck slice got my attention, that added detail will have me going stealthy all over again, now how do you stealth kill a dragon...

From 1:08 onwards is just utter beauty. I have to say, chorus forms of game themes are freaking awesome. I heard a chorus form of the Tetris theme once. It was one of the greatest things to grace my ears.
