I was disappointed that they STILL haven't gotten rid of that annoying first-person fighting mode where you click to slash with your sword, about as unimmersive as it gets. Magic is still just your hands and a ball rushing forth. Geh.

It is. Whoever posted this has it wrong or just misspoke. Cyrodill is it's own province (simply the central one and the seat of the Empire). Skyrim is the province immediately to the North.Morrowind393 said:I was under the impression that Skyrim was separate from Cyrodiil.
In a commentary with Todd Howard he said they were going back to factions, and giving each faction its own vibe.sterrre said:no tentacle bear's? lol
I'm super excited about this.
Are there going to be different factions like in Morrowind? Are they all going to be unique? Really want factions. If there are factions then that would be awesomeness + epicosity x 100,000,000.
In Morrowind there was Hlallu house which was the stealthy-ish house scheming against the empire and had Mos Eisley type buildings. Then there was the Redoran house which was the crusader knight house that served the temple and had Shell looking buildings. Then there was the Telvanni house which were mage lords who didn't care about anyone but themselves who lived in giant Mushrooms. Then there was the Imperial's for warrior type player's, they lived in Castle's. Then there was the Temple, they lived in big Multilevel buildings. Then there was fighter's guild, mages guild, thieve's guild. Morog Tong the assassin's guild and Commona Tong, the criminal organization behind Hlallu. I'm not even getting to the vampire clans.
I know it's the norm, especially in FPS, so why does it have to be like that in RPG? In FPS it feels more natural, you looking down the barrel of your gun, searching for a target..But in D&D-themed RPGS...Geh, I just can't get the feel of it. It's so stiff and bland. You swing your weapon in..How many ways? Two, like in Morrowind? (Didn't play Oblivion, so can't reference that).Ragsnstitches said:*Click to shoot a gun *Click to attack there *Click to ZOMGWTFBBQ... It's the norm really. Also, if you watched the trailer you would see there is also an AOE flame magic attack that is cast around the player. But beyond that the devs said there will "bolt attacks" that travel further, "Stream attacks" that have a wider arc of effect and cause steady damage (but shorter range), and "charged attacks" that magnify any of the above. I do believe they also said that the different elements will have different affects on a target (like flame causing damage over time and frost causing paralysis or damaging certain attributes)
Draconic actually. Or Dragonish. Or w/e.SamuelT said:Hmm. I could hear that word of Dragonborn repeated at least twice in the trailer. Anyone bothered to actually listen if the text has some meaning, either faux-latin or obscure Tamriel languages?
As I said earlier to someone else, the northern parts of Cyrodiil is Bruma, which is very much like how skyrim would be (5 years ago anyway). I think the "northern region of Cyrodiil" the OP was referring to were the snowy peaks of Northern Cyrodiil, except all "sexed up" for Skyrim.Krantos said:It is. A better way to say it would have been "Northern Regions of Tamriel."
Hmm. I hope they actually put effort into integrating this language in the game, not throw in a few words now and then to spice up the dialogue.Krantos said:Draconic actually. Or Dragonish. Anyway, Bethseda actually created a whole language for the game. All the singing in the trailers we've seen is in that language. Supposedly it was a big task because they wanted to make sure it was consistent. All the Shouts will all be in Dragon as well, and they actually translate to something relative to what they do.
For example a shout to blast back your enemy roughly translates to "Divine Wind of something"
