Fist of the North Star Pre-Order Codes Dispensing Wrong Items

Downloading some new threads for your character is great. Unless, that is, you thought you were getting something a little more substantial.

European players of Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage, a beat-em-up based on the early 80's manga series of the same name, are reporting that they aren't getting the items they should when they try and redeem the codes that they received from retailer GAME as a pre-order bonus.

The codes are supposed to unlock the character Heart - a lieutenant to Shin, one of the villains of Fist of the North Star and a playable character in Ken's Rage - as well as two new levels. Instead, players are discovering that the codes unlock a new costume for a different character and nothing else. The issue seems to be specific to Europe, but players have reported it happening on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Publisher Koei said that it is investigating the reports, but has issued no other comments or statements. Hopefully the problem can be resolved fairly quickly, so that people can get back to punching enemies until they burst as soon as possible.

Well at least they didn't open up their ultra expensive "Arkham Asylum" collector's edition to find that the metal batarang was a lie, and that inside was a cheap piece of plastic that some dude in a factory apparently took a key to.

Some days I wonder how stuff like this happens.

I came close to pre-ordering it but it's close to the holidays...I really want this game though! Sucks about the DLC issue but I didn't think this game would have been popular enough for people to care about something like this. I guess Fist is bigger in Europe than it is in the U.S.

Or maybe it's just Heart who's popular. He's cool but isn't all that great. I'm more a fan of Rei and he's a standard playable character.
