Nope, think I got it, thanks.
This is not deserving of a record. If any type of record is given, I move to have it stricken.
This is given the record of fastest tool-assisted-speed run. Which it is.

Not the same as the fastest run by hand. That's a different type of record and not one they're competing against.

It's like building a faster car to beat someone instead of learning to drive better. You can compare this stuff to the world's fastest vehicle races. Nothing to do with steering or physical prowess but everything with knowing about aerodynamics, construction, rigidity, drive shafts, heating and cooling, etc. F-1 car mechanics optimize their vehicles within the parameters set by the orgnisation, while those that build the fastest vehicles possible optimize their vehicles in any way possible.

So yeah, the guys who built and drove the Blue Flame might not be able to beat Schumacher around the track, but that's not the same thing and doesn't take anything away from their accomplishment. Note, that like the hand controlled speed run having more respect from the general public so does the F-1 race have more fans than the speed record racers. That doesn't mean their trophy is instantly worthless though.

And the "anyone can do it" line by quiet stranger is not even worth replying to.

That wasn't a speedrun, that was exploiting glitches while having a computer do all your heavy lifting. I am not amused. That was bad, and they should feel bad.

I agree 100%, it's pathetic
Pathetic?

What right do you have to judge what is and isn't a waste of time? And, more importantly, what have you done that's any less "pathetic" than this?

I never said it was a waste of time but anyone can figure out all the glitches and make a computer do the speed run, the record is undeserved.
allright go do it. Stand up or shut up :D
I would, if I had a N64 but I no longer have one and I never did have Mario 64, always my friends

See, there's proof you have NO IDEA how a TAS run works. You don't even use an N64, genius, you use a copy of the game emulated on the computer.

I meant to find all the glitches

then go buy a n64 from a disk replay get the game and a computer and do it again or admit not anyone can do it as you clearly cant do it. I know i cant, so I stand by the statement, Stand up or shut up.
.....what is a disk replay? could do it if I spent the time at it, so yes anyone can do it, if they spent time at it, but these guys let a computer do it, so there, "I stand by my statement",

its a chain off stores that focus on old forms of media. and by your logic anyone can do any speed run thus all speed runs have no value and are stupid pointless unimpresive things :D so stand up or shut up, i want to see you upload a speed run as fast or faster before i will accept your statement as anything more then haters going to hate

Wow, that sounds awesome, I've been looking for a store that sold old games (specifically SNES games) but sadly nothing like that exists here. Yes anyone, any HUMAN that is, computers don't count (or in this case shouldn't) I guess what I've been trying to say is, give the computer the record, not the guys

I was a lot more impressed with the 8 minute version of someone acually playing rather than a computer.

by your logic, valve are talentless hacks, miyamoto couldnt create out of a paper bag and rockstar sandiago are a load of losers, cause they didnt build those video games, computers did. Programing takes alot of skill and talent and that is what they did, so if they get no props, the guys at nintdo get no props for making Mario64 to start with.

Disc replay may be only in the midwest, i see them pretty commonly at larger cities around here
When you say Midwest, what....country do you mean?

Okay then, how bout this? Finding glitches isn't very impressive

EDIT: Finding glitches and EXPLOITING them

USA if your not in the states they may not exist for you. Finding glitches and exploiting is one thing this takes pixil perfect perfection of the glitches figuring out how to use them to the most extream, its not just figuring out how to get an unlimited health gun in fallout three, its finding out ways to skip entire sections of the game with out altering the programing of the game at all. Its mastering of glitches. I dont exploit glitches but this isnt just exploiting glitches this is Mastering them to an umpteenth level.

Cheating is cheating, and all they're doing is exploiting glitches

I can just see it, Bowser kidnaps Peach and 5 mins later...

Bowser: *sees dust cloud coming over a hill* "What's that?"
Mario: *screeches to a halt* "It's a me, Mario!"
Bowser: "WTF!?"
Mario: *brushes teeth w/finger* "Cocaine's a helluva drug!"

When I played that game the first time it took me that long just to figure out what to do. I think?

they are only competing in a catogory where all people are using the same skills and abilities, they are all using computers and glitches so its not cheating. No more then Nascar is cheating cause they are using cars instead of running on foot.
Well in my time on online games, when you exploit a glitch most people would call you a cheater, I think our "argument" or whatever this is, is done now
