This is not deserving of a record. If any type of record is given, I move to have it stricken.
This is given the record of fastest tool-assisted-speed run. Which it is.

Not the same as the fastest run by hand. That's a different type of record and not one they're competing against.

It's like building a faster car to beat someone instead of learning to drive better. You can compare this stuff to the world's fastest vehicle races. Nothing to do with steering or physical prowess but everything with knowing about aerodynamics, construction, rigidity, drive shafts, heating and cooling, etc. F-1 car mechanics optimize their vehicles within the parameters set by the orgnisation, while those that build the fastest vehicles possible optimize their vehicles in any way possible.

So yeah, the guys who built and drove the Blue Flame might not be able to beat Schumacher around the track, but that's not the same thing and doesn't take anything away from their accomplishment. Note, that like the hand controlled speed run having more respect from the general public so does the F-1 race have more fans than the speed record racers. That doesn't mean their trophy is instantly worthless though.

And the "anyone can do it" line by quiet stranger is not even worth replying to.
Belive me, I understand what "tool assisted" is. I can't explain this any better than saying YES, I KNOW. PLEASE SEE MY PREVIOUS TWO POST.

My complaint is not that it was run by a computer.

My complaint is the obvious use of glitches to bypass the game and only beat the final bosses. This is not a speedrun, tool assisted or not. They beat the final bosses in under six minutes, not the game. This is exploitation of coding errors.

This isn't building a faster car. This is driving the car through a solid wall, with no detriment, to cross the finish line a few seconds after the start of the race. It's not a race, it's outright cheating.

The fact it's "tool assisted" is meaningless.

Yes anyone, any HUMAN that is, computers don't count (or in this case shouldn't) I guess what I've been trying to say is, give the computer the record, not the guys
You do realise as people have said before this is a Tool Assisted speed run. So it is a speed run for computers. You have to spend time figuring out all the glitches and fine tuning the program to perfectly map the actions needed. This is not the record of speed runs by humans this is the record of speed runs by computers so no it is pathetic. I know people have said this before but why I am really quoting follows the next comment.

Cheating is cheating, and all they're doing is exploiting glitches
TAS are almost built around the use of glitches. It is very rare to find one that does not use glitches. I know wiki is no the best source of fact but straight from wiki.

Degree of glitch abuse

One of the most important differences between a tool-assisted and unassisted run is the use of glitches in the game. Though glitch use is not uncommon in unassisted runs, many are negative towards them, some considering glitch use cheating. In tool-assisted speedrunning, glitches are held in much higher regard, to the degree that the term "glitch abuse" has positive connotations, and tool-assisted speedruns often make heavy use of them. This may in part be because the majority of glitches are very difficult to exploit without frame-precision and re-recording.

That wasn't a speedrun, that was exploiting glitches while having a computer do all your heavy lifting. I am not amused. That was bad, and they should feel bad.
You must have missed the "tool-assisted" part of the speedrun thing.
"...while having a computer do all your heavy lifting..."

What would you define the heavy lifting as?

I did a n64 tool assisted speed run and got done much faster than that! I used a save state, and was able to beat the game in less than a second!

Seriously. How is this news? A bunch of guys beat the game by cheating and useing hacks. Thanks for that.

Naturally, any game could be completed in record time if you reprogram it. Fuck you could just remove all the levels and from the start screen have it go into the credits. EVERYONES A WINNER!
