Hello. ANohter pointless yet curiously asked forum question. What is your favourite foreing film? Is it French? German? Japanese? Spanish? Zimbabwean? Madeupistani? Mine? Battle Royale. That Japanese film with all those students killing each other with Takeshi Kitano in it (that bloke whos the Lord in Takeshi's Castle) and that girl from Kill Bill Vol. 1 with the swingy balded mace thing. Anyway whats yours?

My latest favourite would be Let The Right One In.

Then again, I'm Dutch so every good movie I see is basically a foreign film.

By far my favorite one (even over a number of anime films I have seen), is Spanish, El laberinto del fauno, or better known in English as Pan's Labyrinth.

Pans labyrinth, battle royale, Tokyo zombie, hero, house of flying daggers, downfall, the orphanage, the grudge, the eye, one missed call, flamon et citron, police story series.
The list could go on, but these are the first that came to mind for me.

Persepollis(sp?) Is a good french animation. The book is better, but I like the simplistic animation style.

Most of the popular Akira Kurosawa movies are my favourite non-english movies.

Sedmikrasky is one of my favourite films; titled "daisies" in English, it's an amazing bit of Czech New Wave, made just before the Prague Spring.

Other than that, I do enjoy a Kieslowski every once in a while, and City of God (Ciudade de Deus) was excellent... obviously I could put down a lot of Studio Ghibli stuff, but I'd imagine that'll be covered by other people. :p

Goodfellas.

I am Dutch, so yeah most things are foreign.
I did like "ZwartBoek" / "black Book" a lot if we are talking about dutch productions.

The word "foreign" is subjective... All hollywood is foreign for me. You mean "non-hollywood" or "non-us"?

I would say Korean drama film called "Friend"

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

I watched it fairly recently and was absolutely blown away. The fight scenes are beyond amazing, and it has one of the most touching and convincing love stories I've ever seen in a film.
