I want the game but I'm just waiting for someone to report on how good/bad the port is. If the port is good, I absolutely will play it. I just want to make sure I don't get bitten by the hype for what turned out to be a bad port again.

In other news, being a PC player pays off again. Now if we can just get Red Dead Redemption...
If it helps, Sega already confirmed via Twitter that the game was going to support 60 FPS and resolutions of 1080p and higher if your hardware supports it. I don't think they've talked about specific graphics options, but the fact that they've considered that some PC gamers have already moved past 1080p strikes me as being a good sign.

Now if only there could be a sequel that wasn't hamstrung by PSP hardware limitations and writing somehow even more anime than the original. Or even just more games copying the gameplay concept. Seriously, VC was the biggest advancement in turn-based strategy in at least a decade, so why isn't it its own genre by now?
Am I the only one who loved VCII and didn't care that it was on PSP? Played over 200 hours. Love the hell out of that game, PSP and all.
I enjoyed it overall but the maps suffered in both size and level design.

Also, screw the forest escort missions! [small]Such a pain in the ass...[/small]

Sweet! A game I've been wanting to play for the longest time, but couldn't because of the lack of a PS3. I shall finally be able to try it out.

Am I the only one who, while reading this, heard in the back of my head the distinct sound of a certain M. Bison clip?

*YES!*

*YES!*

it would be pretty damn cool if they add a Valkyria Chronicles character to Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed after this

I bought this game many years ago when I anticipated buying a PS3 within the week. I lost my job and didn't get that PS3. I finally got that PS3 this year and popped in my long stored copy of VC. It was awesome. The best SRPG I've played since Tactics Ogre.

Well this will make a few people happy, me I've already played them when they came out as I don't need to wait or beg for ports, and as quite a few characters are getting in on this I'll join in a bit and to them say, all a bit of fun after all:

One by one....we take their exclusives....

I heard about this game way back when, but never go the chance to play it. Lucky it came to PC. Hopefully it does well, and Sega brings over the Yakuza series. There also might be a chance for the Shin Megami Tensei games to come PC side.
I want Yakuza on PC so damn bad. Sega just needs to put the entire Dreamcast library on the PC. Maybe some online mods to get Phantasy Star Online going again.
You are both aware that Yakuza sells small enough numbers that Sega doesn't even see it worth it to bring it over on the PS3? What hope does PC have?
Just buy a PS3 instead of waiting for what'll likely not happen, the Yakuza series is excellent.

This is a really a fantastic title - if you've not played it before, it is an "action-strategy RPG" that is "Fire Emblem / Shining Force" style difficult (that is to say, very hard - characters can die permanently etc.). The anime visuals are excellent and each character, even the "throw away soldiers" have their own personal quirks and benefits that affect how they act in battle, and with each other. For instance, some soldiers may be "Loners" and do worse when surrounded by others, additional ones might be "Country Bred" and get extra accuracy when standing on dirt roads, or have a "pollen allergy" and do worse on grassy fields etc.

This game finally coming to PC, complete with Japanese vocals intact (as they were on PS3), with all the DLC, and a very reasonable price, is more than a worthwhile buy! Oh, if you go to GreenManGaming, you can buy it for around $13 using the coupon code for 23% off! If you have any interest in strategy RPGs (Final Fantasy Tactics, Shining Force, Fire Emblem, Tactics Ogre etc..especially), anime, or just want something new in general, I highly suggest buying the title ASAP! SEGA should be rewarded for bringing this title to PC "correctly" (good price, JP audio, all DLC included etc.) in the hopes that more Japanese games will make their way to PC properly in the future.

With luck, if this version does well than Valkyria Chronicles II and III Extra Edition will be given "HD Remakes" and released for PC, complete with Japanese audio and other language subtitles. As noted in the article, VCII was released on PSP in the West, yet it didn't come with JP audio due to space issues if I recall, and VCIII and VCIII Extra Edition (the "better" version of VCIII released with new characters, DLC etc..) was only released in Japan, again on PSP. Both titles deserve the chance to shine on PC, much the way that Assassin's Creed Liberation was given a HD Enhanced PC version that was successful after a midding PSP release.

A lot of talk of PC there, surely you mean on next gen too right? I sure hope you're not suggesting they port those games just to the PC... in fact that raises the question of where is the 360 port? I'm sure I already know the answer, but oddly no one seems to ever bring that up so I have to.

It was on my PS3 to-get list (which is metaphorical I suppose, I haven't written one). Since it is mostly strategy I guess I can get it on PC instead. That's cool, I guess.

Fantastic series, played the ever loving hell out of that game. Cannot recommend it highly enough. I thought Valkyria Chronicles II on the PSP was a criminally under-rated title. Captured perfectly a portable model of VC, if the story wasn't garbage it would be near perfect. I never played VC III as I don't speak Japanese. I know you can download an unofficial English patch, but I refuse to CFW my PSP as I consider it piracy.

Moment I saw it I picked it up as a pre-order. Never bought a Playstation 3 and this was the only game that caused me to regret it. Now I am happy knowing we get one of the best games the PS3 ever had.

Already aced every single mission on hardest difficulty, including the DLC ones, but now I have an excuse to do it again!

It's overall a better game than VC 2 wanted to be. It practically fixes everything that was bad or wrong in 2. And Playing with a bunch of convicts alongside the Original squad is more interesting than a bunch of teenagers in training.

I really should import it so. I wonder if there's a written translation somewhere out there...

I'll get on it.

While those are absolutely positive things, publishers have a bad tendency of either lying or only talking about what is going right with their game, and never what is going wrong. Reviewers and/or first impressions video makers tend to be more objective. If anyone I trust actually comments on the port, I will join the line instantly. I'm already aware that the game is worth it, I just have to make sure the port doesn't cock it up.

is a posibility, but its clear right now SEGA wants to try VC's luck on the PC market, which makes sense since strategy games sell a lot on PC

considering steam has now officially more users than the total amount of PS3s sold, i say theres a strong incentive to port the series to PC, more and more japanese developers are finding success on PC

If this turns out to be a decent PC port, I'll be all over this. I remember this looking really interesting on PC, and being on the short-list of games to get if I ever managed to somehow acquire a PS3. Huge fan of the Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem series. If it's a good port and works well with either mouse & keyboard or my wired 360 controller, then I'm sold.
