Sorry if there's a duplicate thread anywhere, I did a thorough search and couldn't find one!

Had Forza 3 since around the time of release now, me and my bloke are at about the same stage in season play, we love the customisation and stuff too but on logging on to his gamertag this evening hes discovered he's been banned from the Storefront.

Has anyone ever had what they felt was an un-necessary ban on this game or does anyone know where we can go for some sort of explanation? All the message says is that he's banned till like November 30th or something and it doesn't tell us why.
I've seen everything he's ever uploaded to the Storefront and it's all just fancy designs, nothing deemed inappropriate.

I tried to take a look at the Forza forums but it sounds like these guys really don't want to answer to why they're banning people you can't appeal or discuss anything on their forums without getting shouted down by admins.
Sadly though I did see one guy say he had a friend of his banned for having his country's flag on his car. Anyone else think that is really sad that someone took the time to report this guy just because of the country he comes from?

Any input would be great here thanks : )

I dunno sounds kinda weird. Just be thankful it isnt a perma ban. And is it the forza people or microsoft banning people? This just sounds weird. They must have some reason but not telling you why is just bad business.

Welcome to the world of corporate game moderation.

Unfortunately, if there's no appeals system there's basically nothing you can do. There will be a set out admins policy and a number of set moderators. Unfortunately as there is no appeals system they are open to interpret the rules as they see fit and no-one can come back at them. It's the major disadvantage of systems like Xbox Live and PSN that they don't allow any degree of user moderation, I dislike that lack of accountability.

Short of switching to pc gaming (which would be more than a little extreme) there's not much you can actually do. You could try forcing the issue with the Forza forums by gathering as much data on the whys and durations of bans as possible and presenting it in a huge lump if data both to Turn 10 and Microsoft directly as well as the forums. It might be that the admins are abusing the system, or it might achieve nothing or (unlikely) get you perma banned. You can only try and see.

Really? That is just cruel and unusual punishment emphasis on unusual, if you ban someone proof must be provided as to what they did and when they did it.

you'd think they'd at least come up with a plausable lie to cover there ass, but not answering? that's just stupid.

What?

So he never did anything wrong and yet he got banned? Strange. There should at least be a way to appeal the ban considering in his circumstances he didn't do anything.

Also the flag thing? Why is that offensive? The guy that reported must be...hmm...*goes to think of insult*
Yeah as far as we can see he's done nothing wrong. Looking through his designs the flag is the only thing that was a specific design of something some sad bastard would report.

The in game mail came from Turn 10 yeah so it's from the Forza guys.
As for the not telling us thing? It's totally ridiculous. I hear when you get banned from xbox live they send you an email detailing why - at least you have a bloody explanation then however stupid it may be.

It's all well and good Xbox Live and all these gaming companies saying "Nothing that is deemed offensive to anyone" but that could be anything in this day and age. It's so sad.

Aw come on, community game moderation was even worse. Look at what happened wht UTAN and UT2004 - a bunch of servers and admins just got together and started globally banning (not just their servers but everyone elses), on the basis of "he beat me!"

@ the op - if a game company treats you like trash then take your business elsewhere. That is all I can recommend.

I have noticed companies rarely like to talk about the reasons behind the banning, and instead have a habit of giving you automated responses.

Blizzard (this is pre-World of Warcraft Blizzard, mind you) was always very good about explaining the reasons behind the banning, how long it was, and what you could do to prevent it in the future whenever you contacted them via chat or telephone support.

All other companies, at least based on my experiences, just post the terms of use you agreed to, even if you have not done anything to break them.

There is nothing more frustrating than being punished for something you are not aware of. This has inspired me to look into this issue abit, I will post anything I find.
Totally and the rubbish thing about it is that if people aren't aware of why they've been banned what's to stop them accidently doing it again?
