I wanted to record some gameplay footage, and I heard that Fraps was a good program. However, there's a free version and a pay version, without any indication on the actual site on what the difference is. Can someone tell me what you get for your money, or if there's a different, better program to record PC gameplay on?

Fraps is the best program to use for recording video games, but the free version only records thirty second clips (Full version records indefinitely.) There are a few other minor differences between the full and free versions, but that's the big one.

The biggest problem with Fraps is the file size. Make sure you have atleast 100gigs free before you start to record. You never know how long you'll be recording for.

Free gets you 30 second clips with "Www.fraps.com" on top of your screen.
If you're looking to properly record you'll need the full version. If you're not bothered about watermarks, I believe the free version of Bandicam can record indefinitely, but it's not quite as high quality as Fraps.
