If you haven't played Planescape Torment do yourself a favor and do so. Immediately get over the interface and make a fighter character who maxes wisdom, then int, then any leftover points in charisma. Turn the difficulty down if you want, the game isn't about the combat.

Then do yourself a favor and let yourself explore the world, click everything you can, mouse over everything interesting, talk to every NPC, do ALL the side quests, they don't get old. And stop to READ the dialog. Everything about the game is the apex of professional world-building craftsmanship. In that game you are experiencing a work of art from the inside.
Seconded. Planescape: Torment is easily the best written video-game ever made.

It's not even a matter of money, it's a matter of having a ridiculous backlog I can't even get through.

Still, Broken Sword is pretty great.

There are currently more than 188,000 downloads to go. Its moving at a rate of maybe 100 a minute. They will not be hitting this goal anytime soon.

A close second is Star Control 2. The game is just as much about learning the backstories of all of the unique and interesting alien races as it is about saving the galaxy.

And the best part is SC2 is available for free in the form of the [link href="http://sc2.sourceforge.net/downloads.php"]Ur-Quan Masters[/link]

classic game broken sword, but the original is better than the director's cut!
Still freebies count for something!
I believe it includes both, because the game says Director's cut + original so it's better you get both versions for free.

Well it looks like it's finally time for me to pick up Baldur's Gate 2 and Planetscape: Torment. I've been wanting to try them for a while, and now I can get them cheaper.

I wish I wasn't poor. Old school isometric DnD RPGs are so what I want to play right now. =(

Just bought Planescape: Torment for only $7.99 (promo going on). After that I bought Dungeon Keeper 2. Anything else worth recommending?
Arcanum!
I'm not going to argue with that, but I will add Ultima Collection 2(Ultima 4,5, and 6).

-The Director's Cut includes an additional chapter of the story, seen from Nico's perspective and exclusively on GOG, an original version of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars a.k.a. Broken Sword: Circle of Blood

Don't have to play the Directors Cut, original is included as well as a separate free download if you buy (Or in this case get for free) it from GOG.

Amazing site, glad to see they're doing well!

Congrats to GoG. They are doing the gaming community a huge favour. The best way to preserve these old titles is to keep them in active use.

GoG, once again, shows every other damn vendor in the industry how you get shit done. Grats to these guys, particularly on tempting me so very much when they know I don't have a whole ton of spending money.

The excitement for this was short lived when I saw that the D&D titles were the weekend sale. Time to splurge a little.

I'm wondering how accurately that counter updates because the timing interval seems a little too consistent. I'm guessing that front-page counter isn't a 100% accurate representation of sales. I would guess too, that often multiple sales happen at the same time yet that doesn't seem to be reflected in that counter.

Also, I am willing to bet that once the number starts getting closer to 6 million purchases, it will go up quickly with everyone trying to get that magical 6 millionth hit.
