This one got passed on to be by a friend, so I'm not sure how well known it is. Free until June 2 is Bomber Crew, which is described as being an FTL-like game where you command a WWII bomber. It was released way back in 2017, as is being given away as part of a promo for the developers.
I haven't played much as of right now, but what I'm seeing here is that the FTL-like descriptor is reasonably accurate, but you gotta emphasize the "like" part. You definitely spend the time ordering around your little crewmates to take care of all the different systems in a bomber, and you can pick up upgrades and weapons and such. However, the major departure seems to be that the game has a physics engine, and although its not the most bleeding edge air flight, it does mean that if your engines conk out or you run out of gas, you fall. Its an interesting spin on the original FTL game, where instead of hull breaches being the bane of your existence the main fear is a gas tank puncture or an engine catching fire because the ground is just down there waiting for a hug.
