So, more free stuff from Epic. I wonder if their giveaways work the same way their sale does, i.e. the dev gets the same cut as usual while Epic soaks the cost of the discount. Assuming that story is actually true, tho I'll admit, having Epic essentially pay for stuff on my behalf would make me all warm and fuzzy. On the inside. My outside has always been warm and fuzzy. Today, for you:

[HEADING=2]Kingdom New Lands [https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/kingdom-new-lands/home][/HEADING]

Kingdom New Lands will be free at Epic Games Store until June 13th. You can get the game through the link above, or straight from the Epic Games launcher. Either way, the game will be added directly to your Epic Games library.

How long will you last?

Be brave, ruler, and fight to the bitter end,
lest these New Lands conquer you instead.

Kingdom is a minimalistic micro strategy game with modern retro aesthetics and an ambient soundtrack. Players take control of a monarch struggling to build their kingdom from nothing by exploring the world, recruit loyal subjects and defend from the nightly Greed attacks.

Have a look if interested and enjoy.

The next Epic Games Store giveaway will be Enter the Gungeon starting June 13th.

So, I played the game for about an hour and a half and I'm a bit confused... I set up a couple of farms, have walls pretty much all over the map, got my warehouse seemingly full of gold, what is there left to do?

Am I missing some trigger to upgrade my town or am I just doomed to loop through these cycles of day and night? I can pretty much bribe monster waves by dropping coins and then simply collecting income from farmers and hunters.

iirc (also I played an early version) things gate more and more challenging every night and you have to expand if you want to keep up with increasing monster. If you wanna try something else in the same mold, life is hard has more mechanic.

The thing that I enjoyed about the game is the etching out a safe haven in a hostile territory, it reminded me a bit of Age of Empires 2 where I could spend "hours" encircling my town with walls and setting up protected trade routes to allied cities.

Once the monotony of "just fighting waves" ( couldn't call it fighting as archers and catapults seemed useless ) set in, I kind of got bored with it. I'm usually not a big fan of these endless tower defense / wave fighter games as I like to have an endgame to work towards and see progression.

I'll look into "life is hard" though.

Oh then try they are billions instead, that's pretty much all about making town with walls. Frost punk is also somewhat like that.
