So yeh, new freebies. Don't know anything about The End is Nigh, but Abzu is quite a lovely game. Recommended if you like Journey. Today, for you:

Aww hell yeah. Abzu is an absolutely gorgeous-looking game, and I've always wanted to play it myself, even though I know how it ends.

Abzu is basically like Journey underwater and it does it very well. It's not quite as good but it's still worth it if you liked Journey.

Don't know anything about The End is Nigh.

A more detailed description of The End is Nigh: It's another Super Meatboy game made by the same guy, Edmund McMillen, additionally with the soundtrack being renditions of classical music. The biggest difference is that where Super Meat Boy was level-select based, End Is Nigh is just a big world split into rooms. If you liked Super Meat Boy, you'll probably like The End Is Nigh.

Abzu is basically like Journey underwater and it does it very well. It's not quite as good but it's still worth it if you liked Journey.

Iirc, a bunch of the same people worked on both games, including the art director. Hence why it's such a pretty game, especially if you've got the rig to turn on all the bells and whistles, aka all of the fish [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxOtD7OZ294].

I do wonder at what kind of person I truly am that while 99% of people see Abzu (correctly) as the most chill game ever, I see something that is as terrifying as it is beautiful and would take all my courage and beer to play through.

If Underwater scares you, I can see you feeling that way. Everyone's perception is different to so there's that.

But the weird thing is that this phobia only applies to video games.

I swam a lot in lakes as a kid and never had a worry in the world.

*Edit* maybe this is not so weird, real life seems bereft of sea monsters so there's that.

Never play Subnautica then. It's a good game. It might be one of the best survival games out there(though the food/water meters become a chore rather then a threat after early game) but it's basically Thalassophobia: the video game.
