It's Thursday, yes it's true. Something free, not quite new. I present today, for you:

[HEADING=2]The Witness [https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/the-witness/home][/HEADING]

The Witness will be free at Epic Games Store until April 18th. You can get the game through the link above, or straight from the Epic Games launcher. Either way, the game will be added directly to your Epic Games library.

These puzzles will challenge and surprise you.

You don't remember who you are, and you don't remember how you got here, but there's one thing you can do: explore the island in hope of discovering clues, regaining your memory, and somehow finding your way home.

The Witness respects you as an intelligent player and it treats your time as precious. There are over 500 puzzles but no filler; each of the puzzles brings its own new idea into the mix. So, this is a game full of ideas.

Have a look if interested and enjoy.

The next Epic Games Store giveaway will be Transistor starting April 18th.

Man, The Witness is one of my favorite puzzle games of all time, and Transistor has a near unbeatable soundtrack.
Shame I have both already, but that is close to a literal steal.

Honestly I might end up going for the Epic Games store if Borderlands 3 finds itself irresistible in september.

EDIT: OK, sorted the login issues. Looking forward to this game. Do I keep it after the get-it-for-free time period? I guess I do, I have a bunch of freebies in my library (Subnautica, Meatboy, Edith Fitch) but I never actually installed them. Space issues.

Thats neat, I've wanted to try this one for a while, but I stayed back since my completion rate of puzzle games is quite low.

I really dig the aesthetic. But this game really made me feel like an unintelligent fool, with how complex some of the puzzles are and how the game really doesn't hold your hand.

Yes, yours to keep. I wouldn't post it if it was only temporary.

Tried it with PS+ last month and figured that I didn't care much for the walking, I'd rather have a menu where one can select puzzles.

Now I'm back to playing The Surge.

Got this when it was an Xbox Games with Gold a while back. Great relaxing puzzle game. Still stuck on it after months, which is what I want from a puzzle game.

I got it under similar circumstances with Games With Gold (or was it Gamepass?) last year and I can heartily recommend it to anybody with even the most fleeting interest in exploration and puzzle solving. Playing The Witness was the last time in YEARS, no exaggeration, that I felt I was playing something unique and fresh as opposed to formulaic mass media.

There are introductory puzzles of each type, it's just that they're sometimes not signposted very well. I attempted to play the game area to area in a very methodical way, which meant I tackled the central village around halfway through my playthrough whereas in retrospect it's probably intended as one of the last challenges before the mountain. My advice to new (or stuck!) players would be, if an area seems too hard, abandon it for now. It will probably make sense later on and there's really no chance of "missing" anything.
