French Artist Re-Imagines Classic Games

A French artist and gamer has taken some of the milestones of gaming and given them a gorgeous new look.

Mikaël Aguirre, known on DeviantArt as Orioto, has created a small gallery of screenshots, rendering classic games like Super Metroid and Sonic the Hedgehog in a high definition style reminiscent of Jonathan Blow's Braid.

Each image is the product of hours of painstaking work and brings the halcyon days of the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis thoroughly into the modern day. The gallery can be found here [http://orioto.deviantart.com/gallery/#Videogame-Remakes] and each image can be downloaded in a massive resolution suitable for printing.

Apparently there is something on DeviantArt other than Princess Peach hentai. Who knew?

Actually, deviantart is quite the stickler about that. They're not fond of Hentai of any form. Ecchi, they're okay with, but Hentai? They tend to delete those pics (not always, just usually).

I know, why is that the part I focused on, but whatever.

Anyway, I'm going to have to watch this guy to see if he makes more.

That Mario one's a good bit better than his others, but they're still worth a look. For the Mario one, I love how it's an awesome Mario themed painting yet it still looks playable. Picturing it in motion kinda pushes the boundaries of what a game could look like in my mind.

They look absolutely incredible, and actually hope they get made as if they did and were released on PSN/Xbox Live they would probably be best sellers quite instantly and become even more famous then the 2d platformers already on there such as Braid and Castle Crashers.

DeviantART has any [http://alene.deviantart.com/] number [http://dypsomaniart.deviantart.com/] of [http://l-u-t-h-e-r.deviantart.com/] fantastic [http://migueltio.deviantart.com/] artists [http://vladimirborowicz.deviantart.com/]. I often sift through the Daily Deviations to find them rather than the depths of the Narutard fanart. Ugh. It's stick there. Like grease only less clean.

This is pretty cool stuff, I feel I should say. Talented artist.
