Usually just with ketchup. However, if my husband wants to go to In-N-Out, I'll order the 'animal style' fries but without their gross American singles cheese. It never melts right, just goops and chills quickly. It's basically french fries made fresh on site, topped with chopped grilled onions and a thousand island style sauce. It doesn't need anything else. They are delicious.

How do I eat my French fries? Any damn way. Usually I just eat them plain since I love the taste of them alone (unless we're talking about fries from a fast-food joint, because the salt is never optional), but I also enjoy the occasional poutine. The occasional good poutine, that is. Word to the wise: Never have a poutine in a movie theatre, in case you haven't figured out that all the food there except popcorn tends to be disgusting beyond words, anyway.

Lucky for me, I have fries right here that I'm devouring.

With a sprinkling of salt and then as quickly as possible to prevent the sticky-fingered chip thieves from striking! You know who you are, you beady eyed little people who won't order your own but want "just one" of mine which inevitibly turns into roughly half...

I eat them first. Whatever meal it is, if there are fries, I will eat them first. I can take the rest home and it will be good but not fries.

I enjoy them with ranch and if there is hot sauce at the table I'll squirt some in the little ranch bowel.

The rare occasions I have McDonalds, I usually have a chocolate sundae as well. I dip them in the chocolate sauce... It's nicer then it sounds.

I can't stand the taste of potatoes, so I like them thin-cut, well seasoned, and thoroughly fried. I end up drowning them in ketchup if they don't meet those conditions.

I don't eat most " fries" that places serve. I only make them myself using fresh potato's and cook them with fresh jalapenos, fresh yellow onions, salt, black pepper and cayenne.

In Sweden we like to dip them in ICE CREAM or MILKSHAKE.

It's tastier than it sounds. Give it a try y'all! :D
Yet another reason to not trust heavily Socialist countries. :)

Ketchup is the honest and right way of doing it but since my trip to Belgium I have been know to sneak mayonnaise on the plate and secretively dunk them in that to while pretending not to do so.
No, seriously. Try that. It's a Texas thing too.
Texas fries are cooked with jalapenos and onions. If they aren't cooked with jalapenos and onions they aren't Texas fries!

:p

That recipe isn't as good as the one we use though.
Chop the potato's and put them in a plastic bag. put lemon juice on them. chop onion and jalapenos put them in the bag salt , pepper and cayenne them and shake the bag up mixing it well. Then cook them all together at the same time, keeping the bag sealed in between batches so the flavor gets stronger. salt them again once you take them out. EDIT: don't cook them in the bag, fry them with some sunflower oil. They are awesome!

What kind of wonderland have I stumbled into? I'm almost 40 and I've been eating chips with sauce, maybe mayo. All. This. Time. I'm going on a condiment weekend! Gonna gain some weight!

Just a little salt. Maybe ketchup. Yeah, the boring old way, lol. When I was a kid, I was amazed when I saw people eating them with forks. I just couldn't wrap my head around that XD

Mix ketchup and mayo, then a bit of salt if the fries aren't salty already. Good eatin'.

Depends on style.

MacDonald's are best with a little salt and dipping sauce of choice. what are called Chips in england are best with salt and vinegar and a nice tomato ketchup. Boring? perhaps, but these are big bits of potato that need something fresh tasting to cut the grease.

Poutines are a strictly Canadian dish, so not a lot of people are likely to know what it is. lol

I mostly just eat my fries dry with salt. I don't like them with ketchup, oddly. However, since I'm traveling in Ireland right now I recently had some with vinegar, and I think I might try eating them that way more often.

This is so strange.
I had the exact same idea for a thread on the day you posted this, but decided not to go with it.
Somehow we are connected, and it involves french fries...

Edit: I eat them plain, but I like to cook them till they are slightly crispy.

From a store or fast food chain, ketchup. Homemade ones, on the other hand, just get a bit of salt. Twice fried, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside...
Damn it, now I want fries.
