Fresh Look at Mass Effect 2

BioWare has released a teaser trailer for the follow-up to its 2007 hit RPG Mass Effect, and boy does it tease!

There's been a lot of buzz about Mass Effect 2 since it was officially announced by EA earlier this month, but Bioware have really stirred up the hive with the release of the first teaser trailer for the game.


What terrible fate has befallen the commander? What do the Geth want? Why does BioWare insist on torturing me like this? We'll just have to wait until 2010 to find out.

Hmmm, suddenly 'Spectre' seems a very appropriate title.

Indeed! I'd be surprised if he where dead. But you never know, that could be the twist - Shepard's dead and Shepard Mk II takes his place.

Seems likely. They would never release DLC for Mass Effect 1 so late if it wasn't a quasi-sequel - a Mass Effect 1.5, if you will.

But GAWWWWWWDDDDD, that was an annoying trailer. Like the first Halo 3: ODST trailer.

I don't think so. I don't even think that was even a Geth in Shepard armor, as many seem to think, but rather just one overlooking his "corpse," seen from a weird angle. Besides, how could a Synthetic infect someone?

The husks in the first game did a pretty good job.

They couldn't infect him per se but they could turn him into a super intelligent husk. Talk about the Ultimate Shock Trooper.

I wasn't saying he would. If Shepard become a geth it would take away character customization, plus how exactly would he be a geth and still save the world? I was suggesting something simular Prince of Persia: Two Thrones sinario. Shepard is rescued from being turned into a husk maybe? This could mean an extra level of complexity during combat with robot like powers (maybe you charge it up from normal fighting or something)

Maybe, maybe not, this is just speculation.

Interesting idea. I think that's plausible, especially since the KIA report could be from someone seeing him impaled on one of the Dragon's Teeth and assuming the worst.
