(S)he's not dead, (s)he can't be.

Anyway, something interesting I've thought of before is what if in ME2 or ME3 the citadel races actually allies themselves with the geth (as in not all AI are inherently evil), and we get a geth as a team member, maybe some cool special geth with a personalty (a geth that isn't just cannon fodder).
Or if BioWare and EA decides to be very boring and choose that all geth are evil, maybe we capture one and Tali reprograms it to fight for us.
I'm really hoping for a scene setup similar to the rachni queen scene in the first game, but with geth instead.

Oh man do i want a geth ally! Would be so awesome.

Ummmmmmmmm... did'nt they try to destroy the Citadel by opening a giant hole throught space and time, unleashing a horde of over-powered giant spaceship robots?
In ONE version... goddamnit, I need to go back and finish that game.

I bet the normandy gets trashed, Shepard is still alive but is assumed dead because another agent finds the wreckage with no signs of life. Which means a large portion of the original crew is dead. (I liked Joker too).

I also bet story will open up with Shepard grounded on a planet Over-ran with Geth. You'll fight your way to a radio tower, in which all your alien buddies fly in a new Taurin stealth ship after you activate a distress signal. And thus it starts.

But thats my theory.
This seems the most plausible.

The stereotypical AI-who-wants-to-be-human geth would be sweet. :)
Geth who wants to be human nothing, this is a chance to create a new HK-47.
Yes! They tried and failed with the Elcor (Hint: The thing we found cool with HK-47 wasn't that he explained what he was going to say, it was that he was a psychopath), they definitely have to try to recreate the fan fave again.

What the hell is HK-47 and who tried and failed with the Elcor?
HK-47 was everyone's favorite character in Knights of the Old Republic (another Bioware game if you didn't know). He was a completely psychopathic assassin droid that announced what he was going to say (i.e "Statement: Blah blah blah"). Bioware also had the Elcor do this in ME, likely as a Homage to HK, but they're nowhere near as awesome as him.

Well excuse me for trying to shorten down a plot as complex as Mass Effect's down! And isnt what I said, in essence, correct? Did'nt the Geth, Saren, and Sovereign, try to open a hole from Dark Space so that the Reapers could poor in with their overpowered fucking huge selves?
I suppose so, it was just the "Open a hole in space and time" thing that got me (that's not how Mass Relays work, they make a corridor of mass free space). Still, you probably weren't deserving of my original comment, I apologize.

You really insult my intelligence sir!!! Of course I know Bioware made Kotor!!! Hell, I've played it, but never getting passed the 2nd area, being a retarded 10 year old at the time who could'nt figure out what the fuck I was supposed to be doing, despite looking at my journal every 10 seconds trying to figure it all out!!!

P.S. Also, thanks for telling me who HK-47 was. Also, was a recruitable character?
I figured you probably knew, just wanted to be sure. And yeah, he was recruitable (well, buyable, technically) character. I never used him in a fight, since he was a ranged character at the time when you have anywhere from one to three other jedi in your party, but the conversations were hilarious.

Wasn't Mass Effect 2 confirmed when Mass Effect was announced to be a trilogy?

If Shepard is really dead I will cry a little.
