Jeez, MMO's are by far a huge use of the mind, planning how to take down bosses, gathering materials for crafting and working out how to accomplish quests, just to name a few! And as for playing it all day, every day. Of course there a breaks, but it's a hobby. It's fun. Often, you're playing it with your group of friends! I fail to see any reason why that in itself is a bad thing, compared to say.. Sitting and watching TV as a family/friends. Hell, there are families (father, mother AND kids) who all play the same MMO and are great people. I personally knew a couple from Final Fantasy XI!

low self-esteem is just some bullshit pop psychology term used as a handy explanation for any sort of anti-social behaviour... you get into fights a lot: low self-esteem, you dont talk about your feelings: low self-esteem, you dont want to take it up the ass: low self-esteem... im sick of it... why can't gamers just be gamers and not have to deal with whiny moms, who because they haven't been fucked in decades, decide to take it out on us gamers, the go to scapegoat of the newly passed decade... This just astonishes me she doesn't seem to have any medical evidence for this when there have been studies that show video games can sharpen reflexes, while games like Age of Empires and other RTS games promote critical thinking.

How are gamers idiots when A LOT of the games released for years have had in-depth, logical puzzles to solve. A lot of the games on XBox Live Arcade are puzzles and/or strategy games. So sure, I'll just pull a time machine out of my ass and get right on that! Yes, SOME games feature a bucketload of violence in them, but so what? So do movies and TV shows. Hell, rap music was the scapegoat of the people's rage before video games were. Video games are solely for recreation and as a hobby, it certainly doesn't mean that someone will play a game and suddenly commit mass murder! There's a rating system for games much like movies. Parents need to keep an eye on that BEFORE buying first-person shooters for their kids.
EDIT: And as the previous poster before me stated, this is why the world often hates America. You guys just continue to disappoint everyone. There a many other reasons to hate the country and never want to visit/move there ever and go to Canada instead..
