The problem with Frumpy Mom, apart from her frumpy parts, is that she sees kids as little douche bags suffering from ADHD who are brain dead and have no self-esteem. Her view of theses retarded children and young adults has sparked something in her ?adult? and ?clear minded? frumpy head to find out what it is. So rather than research the topic, video games seem the logical choice as a cause rather than poor parenting, overpopulation, sociological factors and common sense. It?s not that Frumpy Mom isn?t a concerned parent who?s looking into the problem?s of today?s children and teens, it?s that she?s using videogames as an excuse to justify why she sees her children and everyone else?s children as little shit spawns from Satan. No one with a healthy regard for children and young teenagers would ever refer to them as having ?no self-esteem?, the brainless shits.

Dear Ms. Fisher

I don?t consider you a maniacal crackpot but I do believe that you are extremely off base when it comes to video games. First I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I am 15 and live in Massachusetts, I go to a public school, have friends, get grades good enough to make honor roll I am extremely involved in extra-curricular activities (my high school radio station and academic bowl team) and I love video games. I feel that you are wrong for a lot of reasons but that?s not very explanatory (Fox news answer if you will) so I explain them one by one below:


First: I take your article Video games were invented by the devil as an opinion piece with some humor thrown in (such as video games were invented by the devil) video games being bad for everyone no matter what is an opinion I disagree with but one that I accept as the view point of many not familiar with the hobby. I personally believe that the affect video games have on a person varies based on who that person is and that playing video games too much is unhealthy as is doing too much of anything.

Second: The cases of the man who left his wife while she was in labor and of the woman who called the cops over her sons constant playing of video games have to be very rare for the reason that if they were common no mainstream news source would have mentioned them. Thus to cite them as examples of video gamer culture is misleading

Third: Many people play video games and yet I don?t see a large percentage of the population becoming zombies it seems to me that the population has access to more information than ever through the internet and can actually access more information in a day than you ever could as a child, I know I use the internet to learn many interesting things. (Like the fact that designated school buses are a phenomenon unique to the continent of North America) Thus all your statements regarding video games diminishing children?s intelligence are based purely on an uninformed viewpoint with no evidence to back them up as you say that you can ask any teacher which is an incredibly general statement that doesn?t make sense and is impossible to disprove (like god) thus meaning you have no sources expect for a book which is focused on television just as much as video games. Both can be bad and at least video games have more interactivity than staring at a screen.

In conclusion I believe that you are entitled to your opinion and I am aware that there is nothing I can do to change it, I simply hoped to show you that video games do not cause a decrease in intelligence and that there are a few intelligent gamers out there such as my mother Augusta Heywood who graduated summa cum laude from Mount Holyoke college and has a PhD from The Fletcher school of law and diplomacy as well as two masters degrees and enjoys video games as well.

This I think made me angriest because she assumes gamers are stupid. About the only bad things games ever did in my life was make me so smart I can?t relate to the guys who once played football in high school and who now bag my groceries. Maybe it would have been better if I played sports in High School and settled for a low wage job instead of going on to college and consistantly outperforming my peers.

I must thank games for forcing me to think outside the box to win. I must thank them for the mental exercise they give me. I must thank them for helping me go above and beyond the high school jocks. While they were getting their brains knocked in while trying to get a leather ball across a field I was busy forming complicated plans to win games and then pulling them off to perfection.

So yes, maybe you are right. Perhaps we would be better as cavemen living the simple life. Personally though continue to thrive in a society that lets technology flourish.

Unfortunately, a bit of you're right and you're not. She is just retaliating to us as we gave her attention and now she is getting more attention ie a troll. However, she is real and the Voldemort thing was her way of being "funny." Yeah, she thinks she's funny. It's kind of sad really. I don't know anyone who would get her sense of humor. I am curious as to how many of the comments she read because I know there were intelligent arguments in the last escapist thread and in this one. I wish she would listen to our intelligent arguments, instead of picking and choosing which ones she responds to. Honestly?
