Fun, simple cosplay for the larger guys?

Okay 'scapists, my girlfriend is hugely into cosplay and the first convention during our relationship is coming up in about 7 weeks, we live in a small Australian state so conventions aren't so common.
The issue is that I have very few ideas of what to dress as and my being-indecisive-ness (there's probably a really good word for that) seems to be draining her enthusiasm for the convention.

I've considered fixing up a fake Aperture science ID + lanyard, labcoat, goggles kind of number but if just seems like a lazy effort.

I'm average height, around 100kg (I wear XL).
With a budget around $250, I'm running real dry on ideas.
Help a guy out?

That's not a bad idea.
For a moment I was doubtful about the whole bald thing but then I remembered all I needed was a red bandana!

Could grab some iron on patches from one of the major web stores... Red shirt, vest.
Plus, I already own a pocket medic plushie!

You might have saved me here, mate.

Oh, that's easy. Gotta go with the king:

That cosplay is dead simple. All you need are pink boxing gloves, a tiny crown, and orange boxers. Shaving head optional, or just get a bald wig.

You don't sound that big. I think you'll probably be able to pull off most things as long as the costume is of good quality.

What I think of cosplaying is that you play to your strengths. I don't show belly or arms or back because I don't like those body parts and they look horrible anyway. I don't mind showing legs and possibly cleavage as long as it isn't too bad.
I'm too big to cosplay a lot of scantily-clad female characters. If you have the figure, go for it. If not, there's plenty of other options.

I second Heavy from TF2. I saw an adorable larger woman cosplaying him once, she looked great!

Rufus for SSF4 .
Heavy from TF2
Santa claus for the lolz.
Barette if you're black .
T-Hawk if you are dark skinned .

I'll think up more.

When you say larger guy do you mean fat or husky. What I mean by that is my brother is "overweight" if you use the Body mass index. But he's just muscular. I mean I am not trying to be mean, but what's your build? Just your weight and your height doesn't tell us much.

100kg with average height means he is either a bit chubby or slightly built and can play any character short of dhalsim. it's not rocket surgery but i assume the muricans are getting tripped up cause you didn't list it in pounds

I know this problem, I've wanted to cosplay as darth vader, ring wraiths and many awesome people like that but I'm waaaay too short for that. Like not even 6 foot. Got to dress as rorshack though, that was good.

I'm in favour of heavy along with other people.

You know what I have been dying to see? Someone cosplaying Gluttony from Fullmetal Alchemist. I've seen cosplays of almost every other Homunculus, but Gluttony gets no love, ever. (There's probably good reason for that...) But if you could actually pull that off, some random stranger on the internet (i.e., me) would love you forever. XD

Failing that, maybe Ward Zabac from Final Fantasy VIII? Get two friends to go as Laguna and Kiros, maybe get your girlfriend to go as Julia, and you're golden. ;)

Ooh ooh, or Pierrot le Fou from that one episode of Cowboy Bebop!

No matter what your body shape is, there's a Final Fantasy 9 black mage variation for you.
