Prince Andrew allegedly told convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein “we are in this together” the day after the picture of him with Virginia Giuffre was published.
The Duke of York is reported to have told the late Epstein he was “concerned” for him after the revelations in the media in February 2011 and added: “We’ll play some more soon!”
It appears to contradict a claim he made on BBC’s
Newsnight in November 2019, where he told Emily Maitlis he “never had any contact” with Epstein after the pair were pictured walking together in New York’s Central Park in December 2010.
The email was sent on February 28, 2011, the day after the Mail on Sunday published a picture of Andrew with Giuffre, who claimed that she was trafficked by Epstein to the duke. In a lawsuit filed against Andrew in 2021, Giuffre claimed that he sexually abused her three times when she was 17. The duke, who eventually settled the suit, has always denied any wrongdoing.
Giuffre died by suicide aged 41 in April.

Virginia Giuffre’s lawyer: ‘Investigate Andrew’s ties to Epstein’
According to the Mail on Sunday, Andrew wrote to Epstein: “I’m just as concerned for you! Don’t worry about me!”
He added: “It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it. Otherwise keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon!!!!”
Andrew signed off with “A, HRH The Duke of York, KG”. KG refers to the duke’s Knight of the Garter position, which he has held since 2006 and still retains.
The paper said it had verified the email address used by Andrew, while
Epstein’s email address has repeatedly appeared in court documents and said the prince declined to comment.
The King has signalled that Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York,
will not be welcome at the royal family’s Christmas celebrations this year.
Sources close to Charles indicated he would keep the duke and duchess at arm’s length after it emerged that
Ferguson maintained ties with Epstein despite publicly denouncing him in 2011.
The King has also made clear that he would prefer the pair, who divorced in 1996, to be “invisible” at future gatherings.
