Game of Thrones Season Four Premiere Coming April 6

Game of Thrones' fourth season will begin at 9PM.

Honestly, at this point Game of Thrones could probably call it quits as a TV series and, thanks to the events of season three, still be remembered as one of the most shocking and devastating television shows ever filmed. While we won't spoil it for the one or two people out there who don't already know what happens, suffice it to say that there are moments in season three will make you feel sick to your stomach. In a good a way though, if that makes any sense.

That being the case, HBO has revealed that the series' fourth season will be premiering in just a few months on April 6th at 9PM. Season four will start up right there the last one left off and, by the end of its run, should wrap up the events of the book series' third entry A Storm of Swords.

Again, you'll get no spoilers from our end, but if you haven't read the books and season three left you feeling like nothing good ever happens, season four should have a few nice pick-me-ups. These will, of course, be mixed in with other moments of devastation and heartache but, just personally, I'm looking forward to a lot of what season four should have to offer.

I think the implication was that the way season 3 went some might feel they couldnt bear to watch it any more, and the author of the article was saying series 4 should offer some pick me ups.

The series itself is pretty much guarenteed to finish the arc even if GRRMartin does not. (The producers have a planned plot outline sealed away for the unwritten books).


For UK people that should mean SKY shows the 1st episode of series 4 on monday the 7th of April at 2100.

Pretty much. Just meant that Season 3 has some truly horrendous moments in it that would be remembered even if HBO opted not continue with it.

Oh, boo hoo. I felt more sorry for Ros than for the Starks.

That's kind of fair. Ros was just kind of a pawn while the Starks kind of brought events down on their heads with their political ineptitude.

I suspect the likely alternative, Martin dying before finishing and them making up their own, is much worse than them having the intended major plot points layed out for them in advance. Series like GoT they were are going to let not run out it's full course. The lesser of two wevils....

Actually from some of the interviews I have watched, it seems that GRRMartin has told the writers the legitimate ending of the book series (aka who will be king/queen at the end), so I would imagine their emergency unwritten book ending is close to what the GRRMartin has planned for the ending of the book series anyway.

In fact if he does die before he finishes the book series, theoretically the TV series could give everyone the closer they want. Though they will have to settle for a close enough ending given the character and subplot differences between the TV and book.

The series will end. Some of the fanfic projected endings are actually quite good and make a lot of sense.

To be fair, even if the series went all the way to the end of the fifth book and stopped, people would still be wondering that. Dany's story has been entirely too meandering thus far. Stop playing the great emancipator in countries you have nothing to do with and do what you've been bragging about!


Alrighty! I suspect the end of season 4 will leave viewers feeling quite a bit happier than the end of season three, but given the grimdark nature of the series, not a whole lot happier.

I wonder what they'll do with books 4 and 5. I personally felt 1-3 were great, but 4 and 5 felt a lot more like just setting the stage for the actually important events later, something books 1-3 managed to do while still containing important events. I can't be certain until books 6 and 7 are out of course, but I can't help but feel there was a lot in those books that won't really matter all that much in the end. I actually hope they'll condense the two into one season.

Since series 3 had finished, I have read all 5 books twice. That is roughly 5,000 pages (10 if you count both reads). And I can tell that he is no where near even close to finishing. Maybe he doesn't want to, maybe he can't. I am glad the t.v series has a set timetable, I don't fancy waiting 20 years for Martin to finish it.

If it remains consistent in quality, Game of Thrones can easily become one of the greatest TV shows ever made.

I cannot imagine the heartbreaks when the books and the series inevitably end.

Martin's been quoted that he would use the comet if he ever wrote himself into a corner. It's pretty piss poor writing if you ask me, so I'm hoping he mostly said it in jest.
