Wow, do they really think that polite conversation is going to win people over. Not for $50 a year it wont.

I hope this is a tragedy for them.

I think the thing here is that it costs money, and isn't even a real game. Only adults with disposable income will go for it.

...that said, the number of obnoxious kids and straight-up idiots on World of Warcraft [sub][sub][sub][sub]*cough*paladins and hunters *cough* [/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub] would indicate otherwise.

Wait a moment...

Can we just change this headline to "GAME VP SAYS HIS BETA TESTERS ARE NICE", because that's all the article says.

No proof, no nothing.

I agree completely. This beta is not an accurate measure of behavior, merely a test of technology.
I've been known to play some CoD with friends on occasion but never alone or in game chat. I would rather not bother talking to random players most of the time and I don't think I've ever had a positive interaction with CoD players that I or a friend didn't know.

Simple: if someone is consistently obnoxious online have someone hunt them down and shoot them. No problem that can't be solved with shootin' people.
But, won't they just respawn and go after the person who shot them?

That's pretty cool, like a mix of Facebook and bungie.net's score tracking. Still not getting it, mainly because I don't have any CoD games, but also, no interest in online multiplayer.

What about a world shortage of bullets?

I think he means in real life. The much more "permanent" solution.

OT: People who actually took time to sign up in the beta most likely aren't as idiotic as the run of the mill CoD player. Same thing happened with me in the Halo: Reach Beta.

Second off, mature adults with money can afford Elite. Immature kids will just beg their parents for it. even if they manage to get it, it's not guaranteed they'll be allowed to renew it.
I think the number of pre-pubescent weirdos on X-Box Live is proof that children now-a-days generally aren't lacking in hobby-funds. I know of a kid who, along with some friends, pooled together enough money for a pre-owned car, which they immediately wrecked and burned out, and yet he still had enough money to purchase most of the triple-A titles published that year.

OT; Like everyone's pointed out, it's a Beta. Chances are the real thing will either flop or be filled with every arsehole in the Northern hemisphere.

I am aware. You seemed to have missed the joke.

Does this mean I have to commit seppuku with a Sarcasm guide book?

Yes, but they respawn 1 second later. :(

Anyway, I'll have to see this. CoD is not really known for it's civil, kind hearted, tea-sipping community.

So the "Real" title of this article is
Beta testers act like human beings

I'd love to have sat in on the marketing board discussion for this. "Our game is boring, repetitive and exclusively played by twats. We need to fix at least one of those problems in the easiest way possible!" "Why don't we pretend to fix one of these problems and make a lot of money at the same time?" "I'm listening..." "Let's charge people a load of money for a completely arbitrary service and say it's weeding out all the twats!" "Brilliant!!" The term "Full of Shit" comes to mind. Not like it's my problem I've known Activision was full of shit for a long time now, but Jesus fucking Christ is anyone actually falling for this?

That hardly seems neccessary. I just wanted you to know it was a joke so that you might have a little chuckle to brighten your day if you feel so inclined. But, you mistook my correction for hostility.

First off, correct.

Second off, don't be like that. My group of friends, (16-18 year olds) who you would probably still classify as kids, have always been courteous, etc online. We work, and we pay for our online services either by choice or necessity. Yes, I know the majority of us are a bunch of idiots yelling things into their mics, but it really burns me that a person's age can be used to judge them. 'Grown ups' can be just as mean-spirited, hateful, and obnoxious as people of my age group and below, sometimes more-so. Some of the best players I've ever met online were actually way under the game's recommended ESRB rating. Sure, their voice is nails on a chalk board, but if they're nice, cooperative people, well, I simply couldn't give two shits.

Sorry if I read too much into your comment, but I'm sick, sick, SICK of seeing this crap.

To help you out here, notice that I did not at all bring age into it. It was all maturity. If you and your friends have always been courteous and you're working to pay for the services, then, despite the fact that you might be 16, I still see you as an adult.

I have a friends who's 16 who is more mature than most of my 23-year-old friends.

Don't worry. I wasn't throwing in the age card as anything but a reference to general maturity levels. If you're not a part of the majority, then my hat is off to you.
