Gackenbach says of gamers in dreams: "They don't run away, they turn and fight back. They're more aggressive than the norms." She also deduced that gamers have less aggression in dreams, but when it arises it's extreme. "If you look at the actual overall amount of aggression, gamers have less aggression in dreams, but when they're aggressive, oh boy, they go off the top," she revealed.
Well, that certainly would explain that dream I had back in high school where I saved my school from a giant monster by casting the Giga Slave...

It's a shame I remember so few of my dreams these days, it seems.
It's not a good idea to summon the lord of nightmares you know.
Why, whatever do you mean? What <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGRuhjdo_qM&playnext_from=TL&videos=oX0TdWYPHrE>possible consequences could there be for summoning the source of all chaos, the golden <color=gold>lord, mother of the worlds, darkness beyond blackest pitch, deeper than deepest night, shining in the sea of chaos...that is how you describe me, is it not?
Hah, I've never gone that far but I've certainly fireballed my fair share of zombies. Last time I remember fighting a giant monster though I donned Samus' power suit. Oh and the Kung Fu, did a lot of martial arts growing up and man I love the kung fu. The first time this ever happened to me it was basically "Treasure Island: Kung Fu edition".

It can be pretty random too, one exceptionally awesome dream occured on my last birthday. I was playing some ice hockey on an outdoor rink, really getting into it being down 2-1 and pressing for that tying goal... when out of nowhere a pirate ship pulled up and zombie pirates started to attack! Horror quickly turned to joy though when someone handed my a sniper rifle, and I started happily head shotting the zombie pirates. I got a little worried when they started getting too close though (you know how it is in FPS wit the sniper rifle), when I realized I had a perfectly good blunt instrument in my hand so I flipped that bad boy over and began engaging in melee combat!

Believable. I've had some freaky dreams but most of the time, I turn around and go all-out Hokuto Shinken on the people messing with me...almost literally [I say almost because of the lack of bodily explosions]

Hell yeah. Freddy Krueger is in for a surprise tonight.
"I havent even cut you ye-"
*Freddy's arm is cut off, he begins to run*
"One, Two, Gamers comin for you..."
*Freddy hides in a boiler room locker*
"Three, Four, Lock the Door."
*Freddy tries to silence his breathing as the door to the room opens*
"Five, Six, Hope their Wii gets fixed.*
*Freddy sweats in terror as the gamers walk past his locker*
"Seven, Eight, Hope they stay up late."
*The Locker door swings open as countless gamers rip Freddy out of it*
"Nine, Ten, Never kill again."
*Freddy's blood curdling screams echo across the dream world*

Wish this were true for me, totally had an Alan Wake inspired nightmare the other night that kept me from going back to sleep.

That's pretty cool. Funnily enough last night I had a dream that was based on a game. I was controlling and army, the world was pretty much Rise of Nations. Rise of Nations graphics, buildings, resources etc. But all the people and units were Advance Wars peoplea and units.

It was so awesome, and I was in control.

Haha. Wow, this actually rings true for me. Never had "bad" nightmares. Fun ones, where I kill lots of people. I like that she also noticed we have "better spacial skills and a high level of focus."
Yeah, *****. Games are good for my mind.

The moment I read this, I remembered quite a few dreams I had when I was still in school. In one of them, I'm standing in school, I reach out my hand & a small pistol plops into my palm. I start walking around school & shooting people in their heads, students & staff alike.

I AM YOUR NIGHTMARE MUKEKEKEKE

Hi Everyone,
I am Jayne Gackenbach's research assistant. Loved reading all the comments and anecdotes here. Jayne is thrilled with the response that her work is receiving, and is interested in hearing more. There are currently two studies underway, one for gamers who are/were in the military, the other for gamers in general. If you'd like to participate, please visit the links below, or email Jayne at [email protected] or myself at [email protected]. Thanks again for your interest. Very much appreciated!
