I know that, GFWL, Games for Windows (LIVE) is like the hated child of the gaming world but does anyone think that it has potential? I personally like the system ... TO A POINT. That point being right before i saw that small list of games that use the system. So what do you, The People of The Escapist, think is coming for GFWL, will it be a flop of will it be a steam rival?
If it was more like the Xbox 360 interface would it be better or worse? and what is just your general thoughts on the system itself?

I believe this is a great idea taken about in the wrong way, it has good point but right now the bad out weigh the good, such as failures to log in users, or the rather small games list. I must say a ability to make account of GFWL and migrate it to an Xbox is a great idea. however i feel like support behind the system is lacking a lot. but enough about me i wanna hear about what you think.

No, I don't think it has potential. Because the market they're aiming for is the Steam community. And that's already one good community.

Nothing can top Steam.

Especially if it is made by Microsoft.

I am not an Apple user. Eugh. Ewwww.

I'm not happy with it popping up in my Fallout 3, however it did give me achievements, so I forgave it.

Would not buy anything from it though, would have got Fallout off of Steam but my internet was down when it came out so had to get it from a shop.

It's shit.

Whatever potential it may have had has been ripped away by it's shittiness and the fact that we've had Steam for years.

I think it has potential. I like the fact that it merges gamerscore with an existing Xbox 360 account (now any achievements I recieve in Shadowrun are added to my 360 gamerscore, which is kinda cool) If more third party developers would sign on to the project and allow achievements, and maybe the presentation was improved (because Steam does look better and is easier to use) out along with the somewhat annoying interface that pops up whenever you boot up the game, then I see no reason why it can't do as well as Steam

Games For Windows Live has two options: either it goes free, or it goes away.

Steam is free, and has pretty much cornered the market anyway, so even if the Gold account were free, it probably still wouldn't be particularly successful. As it is, they're asking PC gamers to pay for features which they've had for free since Doom came out. Unsurprisingly, the reaction hasn't been particularly good.

GFWL is pointless.

Steam is superior, steam doesn't require you to pay for updates and steam is a useful platform that holds all your games.

The only thing GFWL does, is prevent me from playing games the way I want to play them. Which then means it fails again because there are already files that replace GFWL and it's too easy to just disable.(my controller's HOME button is just another pause option in Fallout3) And it fails even more since I will never pay for a game with GFWL where it can not be disabled.(steam is an exception because it's part of Valve)

It has the potential to be steam. Unfortunately steam has already got the steam niche filled. Also, being windows it will probably not have as many deals as steam (which often has some pretty cool sales) so it will not be as popular as steam.
