Games of THIS generation that already haven't held up well

Sadly, games don't last forever. Even sadder is when games of this generation, that are playable on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC are already starting to show their faults and have already become hard to play.

One thing to note: these can't be bad games. 'Legendary' isn't an answer to this. 'Vampire Rain' isn't an answer to this. The game must have been good at the time of release, but playing back now you can begin to see the flaws.

I am going to say... Eledees. What's that, you ask? It's a Wii game. Yes, I play Wii games. But tht's not the point. When I got it, in very early 2008, it was great. You got to throw objects around with some sort of gravity gun (Hmm?) but it was with a Wiimote, and therefore it actually felt like you were throwing it around.

However, I went back to it a week ago... I played it for 30 minutes, then turned off. The graphics are already beginning to look horrible stale, and now that better 1st person Wii games have come out the technical flaws have really begun to show. It's sad, but true.

I'd say GTA4 - the animations are too frame-y, if that makes sense. Kind of like how Mortal Kombat used to run smooth when you first played it, but now it seems very clunky.

sports games that released at launch - they all show their age because despite what most people believe, they are always being upgraded in every way. At least, the Maddens, 2K, and other EA Sports games, as there could be some exceptions

Oblivion - pretty average-looking, with tons of pop-up. i'm also talking about the 360 version, haven't played it on PS3.

I must admit, Oblivion was going to be my second choice. I played it 3 years after release, and I'd already experienced better graphics and was pretty underwhelmed.

But that's not fair. Obviously it's not challanging the second time round, because you already know how to solve the puzzles. It's like replaying a Sudoku just after you finished it, you already know which numbers go where.

There is such a thing as one time enjoyment. Some games are great and are designed to be enjoyed just once. I for one LOVE Fallout 3, but I'd never imagine myself starting afresh, having to pass though all those conversations and long hikes once again. Remember your first kiss? Remember how magical it was? It was confusing and new but it was a magical sensation. But today, if a girl kissed me the same way my first kiss did, I'd be horrified.

Hmmmmm. Perhaps fable 2. When I first played it I was like "This is the shit!"

Then I played it again and started to see that most of the game is flawed. Especialy how they wanted to make the game ballenced, and in doing so, they made the evil side harder to play.

I thought it had to be good? This is the ***** in this thread's armour IMO, subjective opinion, unless it had to be critically successful, which IIRC Alone in The Dark wasn't.

oh yeah, so I see well then in that case Ill say pretty much anything for the ps1 since pretty much everything on it looks like ass now and plays badly... or goldeneye, for the time it was fantastic but now it looks bad and it plays worse

Ironically, basically all 360 shooters I have played, the games look horrible.(irony because I always yell that graphics don't make a good game)
The image is stretched too big and Anti-Aliasing issues are so severe I'm rarely able to see what I'm supposed to be aiming at.

While I don't care about graphics, I will start playing on LOW to be able to use Anti-Aliasing, and when AA is impossible the games, to me, look as bas as early PS2 titles.

Try again... it has to be this generation.

And maybe it's a *****, but I don't think that anyone could really consider 'Alone in the Dark' to be successful.

Lft 4 Dead. Bought it off of Steam a couple of days ago to try it out again (first time i played was on my friend's 360, and he just kept shouting at me what to do). It was fun, but then the flaws started to show. Now, I only play online on Team Fortress 2, so I play Left 4 Dead on single player mode, and may I just say, the AI sucks. I'm constantly running around whilst my teammates start following me about 100 yards behind me, and I get the stuffing beaten, or more like bitten, out of me. First time I tried to complete the No Mercy campaign, I was *this* far away from the chopper. Then I got attacked by a Hunter. Did my 2 remaining teammates help me? Nope, they just STOOD THERE (not even in the chopper) and watched me fucking die. Oh wait, the shot the Hunter off, only for me to stay laid on the ground to be then punded to death by a fucking Tank.

Tried playing online before I posted this. Firstly, I selected to play No Mercy since I had yet to complete that in one go, but tries to connect to a Blood Harvest room. THEN I finally connect to a campaign, right at the end, fighting off the horde, then disconnects me because it can't verify a Steam connection or something or other, then I quit and get a fucking BLUE SCREEN!

*sigh*...bit of a waste of £25...what happened to the writing and the story that Valve are knwon for?

GTA4. SR2 made it impossible for me to go back.
Fable 2. It just feels weird playing it. I'm going to have to dig up Fable: Lost chapters and start playing that again.
Overlord. The graphics look like something from the Xbox. Playing it seems like one long boring task when earlier the idea of controlling minions sounded cool. Also, fuck the fixed camera.

Speak for yourself. I've played Portal at least 4 times, and loved it every time.

I'd have to go for Oblivion personally. Still can't get into that damn game.

Resident Evil 5 did not live up to it's hype. Not that many expected it to. Still, it's already in the bargin bin.
