Games That Are So Good You Bought Then Twice

Good video games have always been a driving factor in all of my purchases. But sometimes you just cannot get enough of that one game and you want to experience it on another platform. As for myself I noticed I have been buying the same games twice, one for my Xbox (sometimes twice for that) and one for my PC. I myself purchased: Splinter Cell Chaos Theory 3 times (let someone borrow it never returned, and traded a copy for a cell phone), Fable: The Lost Chapters, GTA: San Andreas, and most recently Deus Ex: Human Revolution. So my question to you is what games have you felt were worth buying more than once?

I'm very much considering doing it with Dark Souls PC, considering how the extra content is handled, since more of DS is nothing but a good thing. The game itself is brilliant and suits well on a console, but it'll be interesting to see how it handles on the PC.

As for actual stuff, well, I did have 2 copies of HL2 for a while, since I bought the original HL2 and then got a free copy, once the Orange Box hit. I've since given it away to a friend though, which I'm happy about, since he hadn't played it before. Other games, RCT2. I have the original game from way back when it came out, but I recently bought another copy off GoG, since it includes all the expansions and stuff and I won't have to bother with getting it to work properly on Windows 7(if any problems should arise).

That's all I can really think of, of the top my head.

I've bought a few games more than once but that's more a result of me losing the original discs OR the CD Key associated with them because I lost the manual. Off the top of my head:

Diablo 2
Arcanum
Mass Effect 1
Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines

Re-Volt and Shadowman, had them for the N64 and they were great, heard the PC version of Re-volt was awesome and had an on line mode that was still active, well it was active 1 year ago, I'm not sure if it's still is, I got Shadowman because I found it on a garage sale and was dirt cheap, and since I no longer have my N64 cartridge well why not?

I noticed, about 7 or 8 years after originally buying it upon release, that my Deus Ex CD was a bit scratched. I couldn't bear the thought of ever not being able to play it, so I bought another copy. Now I sleep much better.

I bought an extra copy of Amnesia and gave it to some random person on a forum in order to support the developers.

May I ask what prompted you to do this?

OT:
Mass Effect 2, but that was because my first one was scratched a bit and was just in case it became too scratched.
Kingdom Hearts II, but for the same reason above.

Oh. I forgot to include reason #4: Activision needed more $100 bills to light their cigars with and I obliged like the wallet carrying, entranced magpie that I am.

This has happened to me over the years. Sometimes it was for a different platform, sometimes as part of a compilation

Kings Quest V (2)
Kings Quest VI (2)
Daytona USA (3)
Sega Rally (3)
Prince of Persia Sands (2)
Prince of Persia Warrior (2)
God of War Chains (2)
God of War ghost (2)
Ocarina of time (3)
Majora's mark (2)
Super Mario 64 (2)
House of the dead 2 (3)
House of the dead 3 (2)
Giants (2)
Tekken 5 (3)
Brutal Legends (2)

So yes I did buy Brutal Legends twice. I was hit by the bug on the PS3 that rendered the game unfinishable so got the 360 version for $5 on dick smiths recent sale

Dragon Age: Origins.

I bought it for the PS3, then decided I wanted a Steam copy as well.

I feel kinda vindicated, though. The PS3 version focuses more on what your character is doing, whereas the PC version feels more like an RPG strategy type game.

Oblivion

I bought the normal edition originally 4 years ago, then traded it for store credit.
Then I bought the GOTY edition last year and re-played-it-to-death. Again.
Damn it was fun.

The Orange Box. I had it on PS3 originally, though when I had to move away for Uni my brother kept that console while I got a 360 to take with me and decided that I needed it in my life once more. Totally worth it. :)

I lost my Deus Ex disc a while back so I just bought a copy on steam. Now I will never lose it again.
Other than that though I tend not to buy more than one copy of any game. It seems a little pointless especially considering videogames are generally quite expensive.
