I hear about a few games that everyone believes are "insanely great" or "works of art"; yet somehow I (and possibly others) fail to see whats so special about these games. Lets hear any games you just didn't find enjoyable when others shouted praise for it.

I never really liked the Half-Life 2 series. Played them them for a while and never got into it.

Sorry to say that this has been done before quite recently, so expect the following

*gasp* a topic that has been done before! I think I'll jump down your throat good sir!
This is not a pleasant experience, so I would suggest before you start a thread use the "search forums" feature (little red bit next to "My Profile/settings" not the big white bar with "Search>" next to it) and search to see if such a thread has been done before.
People really don't like it here when threads are repeated within a couple of weeks of the last one.

I played portal and I had fun, but I didn't see what was so great about it. The humor was ok I guess, I snickered a few times, but I never laughed out loud. The game play was interesting but didn't exactly get the adrenaline pumping. The story, well, there really wasn't much of one so I really can't comment on it. It definitely wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination but it certainly wasn't excellent either. Overall I'd give it an 8 out of ten, which is no where near the perfection some people seem to hold it to.

MGS series

I've owned a PS2 and a now have a PS3 and have never felt like playing thses games. People were all like, "Kojima is the Second Coming!" and it just never had an effect on me. That, and I don't find much appeal in anything dramatic from Japan (Other than Seven Samurai)

By far the Halo series. Before all you fanboys who still live in their mother's basements freak out, I don't care how much you flame me, I hate Halo. The story is repetitive and stretched out, the twists are insignificant. I didn't find it that enthralling of a game. Btw, if any of you fanboys bring up the point that Halo 2 was "innovative", let me bring this up, just because you added a twat to a dead pig doesn't make it the greatest invention known to man. Second choice is Assassin's Creed. That game was pretty piss poor, and by piss poor I mean boring. It's too repetitive. That game made me realize that if assassins were obnoxious too-cool-for-school arrogant cliche characters then they really aren't those silent respected killers that I assumed them to be.
Where as the Halo Series scored over a 9.5 each on IGN, I would give it a 3.2, just cause I liked pissing off the Arbiter. Assassin's Creed got a 7.7, which is being way to generous for a game that has you repeat its 15 minutes of gameplay for a couple days.
In contrast I loved the game Chromehounds, so what if mech concepts have been used alot. Chromehounds looked cool and actually gave you the experience of blowing other robots up. The fact that it got a 6.9 (albeit a funny number) is a diservice. IGN... Shame on you.
EDIT: Changed my wording to make it make more sense. I appologise for my poor wording as it's late at night and I need some coffee.

There are so many poorly chosen words in that sentence... I don't know where to begin.
I'll keep it simple, don't flame Halo, it's been done enough times that it doesn't need repeating and it just incites fanboy rage.
Also if you are going to flame halo the least you could do is make your points understandable. or you know... actually have points.
How does "added a twat to a dead pig" make any sense?

Resident Evil 4
Bored the crap out of me. Not half as nerve racking as Nemesis.

There are loads of others but it's way too early.

Halo 3, I liked playing throught the single player but the multiplayer, for me at least was a let down I dont like having to use 30 bullets to kill someone and i like to have more than 2 weapon choices available to me at any time, unless I'm playing a class based shooter such as COD. Thats all I'm going to say on that one.

Oblivion, I really didn't get it, it was a pretty game and i spent alot of time looking at water climbing hills etc but the actual story bored me and I wasn't too fond of the gameplay. Also whilst enviroments were really nicely done the NPC character design was pretty hideous alot of the time.

If I think of more I'll put them here.

I commend you for hating halo and yet not dissolving into flaming drivel.
*claps*

And my god (or lack thereof) do I agree with you on the oblivion having ugly people thing.

*opens can of derail-cream*

I was never a fan of Halo. I played the first one, never finished it, bought the third one because I thought it would be cool but found it to be kinda average, like we'd seen it all before. That, and the light bloom hurt my face.

Why thankyou, I wish i could be bothered to find and post a picture of the elf guy you talk to at the bottom of the hill before you go to save the Emperors son from the church, he has to be the worst looking character in that game.

Perfect Dark is the game that immedietly springs to mind. Having playing Goldeneye 64 what seems to be millions of times, multi/single player, running capture the flag, etc I was really looking forwards to (What I was essentially told was) the sequel. I was told, "It's like Goldeneye but better"! The second the game came out I had my best mates and I around to play some good ol' fashion 4 player 64 action but was awoken to a rude shock...

They pushed it too far.

The game chugged like crazy, too many detailed objects and bots making the game criminally slow when multiplaying. My next point my be down to the fact that the controllers were worse than my 007 experience but the controls seemed less responsive as well. I remember in bond being able to snipe someone down a corrider with the rocket launcher while running; but Perfect Dark I seemed to have trouble targeting people with the simplist weapons like PISTOLS.

Also, I never knew just how boring World of Warcraft was until I played City of Heroes.
