hi there do you find your self playing a video game for the sole reason of trying to gain achievments/trophies even after you stopped enjoying playing the game many hours before . do you think that some game developers might actually rely on that to try and extend the game play life of there games by adding extreamley hard achievments/trophies just to keep you playing long after u stoped engoying the game .
what was the last game you found your self doing this on .

myn was fist of the north star .

I play games for fun. If it stops being fun, I stop playing.

I don't care about trophies or achievements.

I play my games for fun. If I get stop playing a game and then get really bored, I might start playing old games for achievements but that's it.

I usually play just for fun, and kinda hated when everything started getting Achievements. But I guess you can call me a hypocrite because I totally got the platinum in FFXIII just to get it and I didn't have ANY fun for those last 60 hours or so of farming I had to do.

From time to time ill run into a game that i want to hit 100% completion, examples Fallout 3, Red Dead Redemption, Assasins Creed 2, but in almost every case i run into the issue of missing just 1 thing and not getting 100% of the gamer score for the game and stressing out about it.

After this happened the last time....damn you red dead and 99.8% completion....i realized how silly i was stressing out over having someone else say "congrats you completed the game" and decided that 100% completion and gamerscore mean dick...not epeen....dick the only times ive ever had my gamerscore brought up by anyone that mattered was a friend pointing out that i had 11,111 score, and an employee of mine pissed as hell that my overall gamer score was more than double his.

long story short, i dont give a rats ass about gamerscore, i just play the games, have fun, and if given the opportunity to pick up some points on my second playthrough i go for them and if they prove annoying....yup i skip them again....not worth the stress...

I play to enjoy myself.
Trophies/achievements are a nice edition, but I'm not going to play something that isn't fun just to brag about it.

Once for Infamous I played my completed file for hours just running around looking for the last shard. I still haven't found it. 349 down just one left. However in most other cases I play for fun and just give up on the achievements if the game is boring.

Are you in some kind of a fiendish hurry or just can't bother with the grammar?

I don't care for achievements, as in not doing anything in particular only to achieve one. They are a fun addition though, suddenly appearing in a corner telling you you have won 5000 rounds in Counter-Strike: Source. Cool (I guess I would've got this a few years earlier if they'd have achievements from the beginning). I don't like those ones you get when just finishing a quest or getting 1/20 of the main story complete = basically anything you will do if you play the game for a bit, in a regular fashion.

I'm not hunting for that Platinum Trophy, but I do multiple playthroughs or matches just to get a certain achievement.

EDIT: Forgot: I don't get achievements I find too hard or too tedious (*glares at I Am Bad Company achievement from Bad Company 1)

I suppose i should put my hand up and say i'm an achievement addict. I have over 71k in gamerscore. I don't know why, it's just extremely satisfying to 1k a game when i get it. I don't get games solely for easy achievements (in fact, most of my library involves games that took a lot of effort to fully complete) but i do avoid games with stupid or impossible achievements, like a game that has 5 single player achievements and 45 multiplayer achievements. I have a PS3 as well, but getting a trophy just isn't the same as getting a 'bleep bloop' achievement, as well as lacking the numerical quantifier (what can i say - completing something on hard for 50G is infinitely more satisfying than completing something on normal for 10G)

Yes, i do play games beyond the realm of 'fun' in order to fully acquire all the achievements in the game. I don't know if it's a marketing ploy by developers to extend the life of the game. I will, however, say this. If it was not profitable, microsoft would not have enforced the rule that all games must have at least 1000 achievement points (200 for arcade), nor would sony have aped the idea with the trophy system. They know it's another hook. I suppose it's a way to get free advertising. Someone spending a long time on a game getting all the achievements will be like an endorsement to anyone on their friends list who checks to see what they're playing.

I play games because I want to and its fun but also if there is nothing to do I'll try get some of the achievements. I rarely try 1000 (unless it's do-able without grinding) a game but as long as I get 650-750 out of a game I feel like I've done enough.
