Gaming Alien Race with the Coolest Technology

The Great Race of Yith, from Call of Cthulhu. Yeah, the only thing you get a good look at is the lightning gun, but it is epic.

I feel like such a nerd answering this, but here goes.

The Combine easily have the coolest tech. First of all, you have all the Synths: Striders, Hunters, Gunships, etc. They're cyborgs, but not like the kind that's just animals with lasers and metal attached. Technology is actually integrated inside of them, so their an entirely new beast.

Plus, they have those energy balls that provide infinite energy when stable, and when unstable, bounce around and disintegrate anything they touch.

Honorable mention to the Drudge from the Conduit, though. Because all of their tech is alive.

By that logic you should like the Tyranid a lot more.

Personally, I like the Covenant's tech from Halo. The designs are ripped strait off of the Protoss from starcraft. Awesome!!!

The Protoss. They can warp warriors and buildings from their home planet to anywhere in the universe, they recycle their soldiers to fight again, and they have gigantic bomb-spitting doom slugs. What more do you want?

You didn't mention the all powerful carrier or mothership units though.

A fleet of 12 carriers=Protoss win.

The Protoss are the best alien race ever.

I never said those weren't cool. Combine are some of the coolest sounding enemies in any game I've played.

Weren't the Luminoth the most technological of the three races in the lore scans in Prime?

I don't recall, though I know the Luminoth, Chozo and whatever Corruption's race were called shared technology on occasion. Regardless, the Luminoth's tech wasn't as cool as the Chozo's in my opinion.


EDIT: Though I have to say, the Echo Visor looked awesome.

The Chozo from Metroid. Their technology makes up much of the environment in the Prime series.

I'll admit, Covenant technology is very elegant and bad-ass at the same time. But if you've read the Halo novels, the Covenant simply imitate Forerunner technology, so the Covenant isn't that impressive.

OT: I would have to say that the Ewoks from Star Wars have the most impressive technology, how can anyone deny the awesomeness of log based weaponry that is capable of destroying massive armoured vehicles?

The Reapers from Mass Effect as they were responsible for all the technology in the Universe and managed to create themselves as giant metal space krakens, (judging by Sovereign anyway.)

But I'm a fan of the Combine too, their whole synthetic/organic crossover thing is neat.

Lol. Too true my friend, on all accounts. Of the indestructible Protoss forces though, the Dragoons are a favorite of mine. You have to love the dedication of a soldier who keeps fighting once his body is torn to shreds and his mind is encased in a giant spider-like mech.

Some Mass Effect tech looks pretty cool but ultimatley not as cool as the stuff the Covenant has at its disposal.

Pretty much a tie between the Combine (although their architecture was a tad inconvenient), and the aliens from Prey.
