Gaming fodder casual media

As video games are quickening to become fodder for generalized media and not video games (IE super casual as they can make it IE watered down) we lose polish and depth in game play and mechanics. Tho I am about the only one who cares more for the game play narrative than the generic visual media gaming is being pushed into but moving on.

All it would take is some focus from the industry and do 2 simple things one default difficulty to easy, face it most people don?t know what a menu looks like thus there is no point in putting normal as the default(and no lets not argue that its all casual fodder so there?s no point in making it deeper/better? do not go there :p). Normal would be more like hard only the game is much more balanced than just ramped down health and such for the player(I?ll take less health/weaker to hit than targets take 4 times as much crap to kill?that is just annoying besides that?s what nightmare is for?.).

The next thing is making the AI play the game, this would open up gaming to a much broader audience and is simple enough to do, have the player AI follow a lose but set path through a level, give it a large radius of what it can see/process so it can slot in if it needs to go after ammo/weapons or fight. Then give it a timer to unlock off a target if the target is having a hard time hitting it(trapped behind something, ect) so it will not dog a difficult to kill target for an unnecessary long period of time.

For jumping tricky areas you set up jump scripts near the ledge that pretty much ensures a safe landing on the other side without taking away fight capability during the jump. And probably a failsafe feature that the person watching can hit a button to have the AI teleport to the last checkpoint, this can be on a timer function if they get stuck in doing the same thing(walking and or failing and or shooting but not hitting anything ,ect) a couple minutes, this could also be used with a pedo track script (no not that kind? do pedos play Halo anyway? Oh wait?those lil guys are sure cute I guess?.. ya ya ya I just finished Halo ep 3 for the first time, played it a lot on a friends system but never got to sit down and nitpick it to death, final verdict while Hao 1 PC is better Halo ep 3 is better than Halo 2 even if you can not dual wield needle guns..... the bastards.... ). Anyway have a step script setup so the last 20-30 steps or sets of movement is tracked and if it gets stuck it teleports to the last one or one in the last set.

The only thing I understood was jump scripts. So, I'll comment on that.

Enslaved basically platformed for you...

Thank god I played on Hard and combat was actually a challenge because of it.

The platforming basically does. Spin the stick around and mash jump. I tried it to see if it work work. You can't fail jumps, only fail timing for hazards in the last few levels. And they're piss easy, anyway.

The combat doesn't.

Sad 0-o

The point of my above droolings is to fix issues like that, the game either runs itself or if you play it defaults to easy taking care of 70% of the "approachable" market for a title, leaving the rest to play a a deeper more polished game by going to options and selecting the non default option. Of course everything is to cater to the lowest common denominator sadly....
