So I have noticed this recent trend for games to have some kind of premium edition that gives players 6-2 days ""early access"" to a game. I know this isn't a new thing since gamesin the past let you pre-order to get beta access. This used to be a multiplayer only phenomenon but now it's seeped into single player games, Diablo 4, (I know that it's always online but still) Starfield and now Ghost runner 2. (There is probably more)
So it looks like this could become a new industry standard for single player games, which I can't say I'm a big fan of. Seems like this is going to be some easy FOMO bucks for companies since I know a ton of people will easily pay an extra 10$ (or more) to play a single player game "early". I already avoid spoilers like the plague but I'm sure this will definitely make avoiding them harder since I won't be paying for it.
I'm sure if this catches on it has the extra effect of pushing games towards digital further reducing those lost sales from used games.
