1. Go for a more powerfull PSU. This can be done later, but is probably needed if you want to use crossfire.
2. Go for the Phenom II X4 (or X6) CPU. Not that big a price difference, and will hold out longer before you need to upgrade again.
3. Go for a better motherboard. You want support for more RAM (it has max 4GB) and more than 1 PCIe x16 ports for Crossfire (for later).

Get an 80 Plus bronze rated PSU at least.

I'd second the x4, hell I'd say go all out and get the Phenom II 965 BE. What size monitor? If you are looking at a 1080 I'd recommend the 5850 over the 5770.

It's also worth looking at the Phenom II X3 720, I haven't figured out all the details on it yet, but apparently with the right motherboard you can both overclock and unlock the 4th core.

I've got the exact same card its a good card, you will want a bigger power supply tho. The minimum on that GPU is 450 watt and if you plan on getting another for crossfire you'll want to get a beefier PSU.

You'll be running MOST (not all) modern games maxed out at 1680*1050

But if like most PC gamers wish to upgrade, be getting a chunkier PSU.

IMO get a Corsair 550VX PSU.

5770 is an alright card. Octafish suggested a 5850, which is a huge step up in performance and price... so probably outside your budget. A much more reasonable suggestion IMO is to get a GTX 460. These cards are fantastic, just look up any review. They overclock really well too.

And I agree with the CPU upgrade suggestions. A dual core just isn't worth getting right now. At least get an X3, and if you can afford it an X4 965 will give your PC a lot more life.

I also don't recommend a micro ATX motherboard since you're getting a midsize case, it should fit standard ATX. Price difference isn't big but the options available are, in particular more PCIe slots so you can SLI or CF another GPU down the road. For example this board is good: ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 AMD 790GX [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131366] although it doesn't support SLI.

Thats a similar spec to mine(if slightly better)

My specs
AMD Athlon X2 3Ghz(O.C to 3.4)
4GB 800Mhz DDR2
500GB 32MB SATAII
XFX 8800GTX XXX Edition
X-Fi Platinum Sound card
Win7 64-bit Ultimate

And it plays most games fine, however the equivalent priced Intel CPU's out perform my AMD loads, not sure if its the same on the Phenom line, but maybe consider going for an Intel i7 920? May push you out of budget, but howabout keeping some of your old compenents if possible like case, dvd drive etc

The 5770 isn't bad for the price, but it will not keep up for that long, maybe try and push for a 5850?

Although i'm not sure if that will take you over your budget

If you get that mobo, just keep in mind you won't be able to SLI a second Nvidia card so you might want to stick with ATI just for future upgradeability.
