Gears 3 Story DLC to Use Spin-Off Characters

The Gears of War universe isn't just about Delta Squad.

Every Gears of War fan knows who Marcus Fenix is, but not quite as many will be familiar with Michael Barrick, one of the characters from the spin-off comic book, Hollow. Those who don't know him are going to get the chance to meet him though, as he's going to appear in an upcoming piece of story DLC.

In Hollow, Barrick is a former member of the Stranded - the people who didn't make it to the Jacinto Plateau when the COG burned the ground with its Hammer of Dawn counterattack - who signed up with the COG and became a Gear. Epic's design director Cliff Bleszinski said that the story DLC would not just be the Hollow comic turned into a game after speculation started on NeoGAF [http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=31320117&postcount=459], thanks in part to Barrick's prominent position on the Gears 3 season pass artwork. Bleszinski said that there was content coming that wouldn't feature Marcus or any of the other members of Delta Squad, and hinted that we could see other characters from spin-off works as well.

It's quite possible that the DLC will tell Barrick's story before he joined up with Delta Squad, when he was still part of the Echo Six team. The comic don't really go into a lot of detail about what happened to Echo Six, other than they were taken out by a Locust ambush. The story of a doomed squad isn't a bad idea for DLC, and it does explain why Barrick - the only survivor - is featured so prominently.

Sounds interesting. I'm getting kind of sick of the main characters, some new ones would be a welcome change :D

I read that comic and I remember him being there when Jace first came to Delta. Can't wait for the DLC and hopefully we'll get to see Alex Brand [http://gearsofwar.wikia.com/wiki/Alex_Brand] too.

You know, I'd actually be willing to pay for and play a sort of prologue DLC set during the Pendulum Wars; featuring separate characters, of course.

Ah, well, we can always dream. I'll probably buy this when it comes out, but until then I'll have to be satisfied with the multiplayer.

Needs more Clayton Carmine.

Let us see some of the things he went through to become the badass that he is today.

......Pretty please?

Epic better give us Bak Tai, Helena Stroud (Anya's mother), Padrick Salton and Alexandra Brand. Me personally, I want to play as the f****ing Locust Palace Guard (counterpart for the C.O.G. Onyx Guard) for multiplayer.

My only request for the DLC is that it answers some of the many questions that that campaign decided to sweep under the rug. Let's start with what were the Sires and what did they have to do with ANYTHING?!

I just hope we get some more time with Carmine. It was a bit of a disappointment for me that they went through all that hype with the Save Carmine VS Carmine Must Die charity thing, and then we barely see Carmine at all during the game. Although we probably won't if they're saying it won't focus on any Delta Squad characters.

I remember from the flavor text of some concept art the Sires are actually the forefathers of the Locust. Now why they were at New Hope is what I'd like to know.

As for DLC: More Clay Carmine! ...and BACON!
