Gears of War 2 sound FX

I was playing Gears 2 last night and I realised that the Sound FX are very realistic and even disturbing. Everything from the sound of your opponents head going SPLAT from a headshot or curbstomp, to the eerie sounds that the Kantus makes, to how the guns sound. So my question is, what is your favorite Gears of War 2 sound effect? It can be a gun, an enemy, or an execution.
I personally like the sounds the Kantus makes. If they can make an enemy that tops the Kantus in Gears 3, I'll be very impressed.

Either the firing sound of the Mulcher, or the enemies squishing as a result. But of course it is hard to top the lovely revv of a Lancer.

I think that most video game SFX (and GFX) are over the top, and appeal to what we'd imagine those actions to sound (or look) like, but if we were to witness those events in real life, we would be shocked by how 'subtle' and understated it was, compared to what we'd expect from playing video games.

Well Gears is over the top. The curbstomp decapitates them, three punches to the head kills them and at the same time, they can eat hundreds of bullets for breakfast. Still, Gears 2 is a good game. I particularly like the curbstop, even though it's not as awesome as it is in Gears 1.

how is the curbstomp better in gears 1 than gears 2?

I love the *hua-CHTCHT* of getting a perfect active reload, and the combination of the crisp sound of a shotgun firing with the over-the-top splatter of some poor bastard's entire upper body.

Also, I remember reading somewhere that they got the headshot sound effect from a mix of an exploding watermelon and shattering pottery. You gotta love Epic for going out of their way to make the perfect headshot sound.

how is the curbstomp better in gears 1 than gears 2?

I dunno, the whole down system and curbstomp seem... better. Although, Gears 2 introduces lots of new features so I got to give it kudos for that.

The head splat. When I look through my sniper rifle at the sniper pointing back at me. I get the shot off first and I hear that familiar SPLAT and see a flow of rasberry jam spray from his neck......... I need therapy.
