Gears of War Fan Creates Mindblowing Papercraft

Stop what you're doing right now. This Gears of War papercraft sculpture may well be the coolest thing you will see all month.

I have the utmost respect for the type of people who can do papercraft art and do it well. It's a ridiculously time-consuming hobby that requires patience and steady, steady hands. We've previously covered [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/tag/papercraft] a ton of cool videogame-related papercraft pieces ... but as cool as they were, I don't think anyone could argue that this one doesn't take the cake.

This Gears of War Locust Mauler was created by a Gears fan and papercraft artiste named Alclione [http://alclione-papermodels.blogspot.com/2010/08/gears-of-war-mauler.html], and it is nothing less than a beautiful work of art. Which is slightly ironic, considering that the creature itself is so gosh-darned hideous.

I build Gundam models for a hobby and I wouldn't touch something like this (because I know I'd mess it up), but if you want to try your hand the patterns and instructions can be found here [http://www.4shared.com/file/Bzp65c7O/mauler.html].

God lord thats awesome. The colors, the details, its perfect.

This man needs to do other Locust units. I'd like to see a Brumack, a Boodmount, or a Kantus.

Great, but why are people with such talent so stupid to only make such small low-res pictures of their work? I don't get it.
Perhaps he only has a low-res camera..? Not everyone can afford some ultra-megapixel beauty.

Anyway, this takes the second bait awesomesauce for my evening after the live action Pokemon movie trailer. Serious skill and dedication, another inspiration for me to get back into my creative ways I've come across recently

I get that papercraft is basically super complicated origami but it seems like so much work for something so delicate.

If gravity decides to be an asshole it could cause something to completely destroy this thing right?

Woooow. That looks insanely complicated, but totally worth all the trouble.

*Applauds* This person deserves an award for such a dedicated papercraft work.
Yes, oh hell yes. Give him a Nobel prize for that!
