It's like harvest moon without the grindy bits and you can be gay when you get married. Which is great.Imp Emissary said:Well Mari, you've convinced one person of your theory.

I hear her daughter may be on board with the idea now too. ;p
Seriously though. Interesting lore this game has. I can see why people like it.
I've also heard many people say it's like Harvest Moon, but with less annoying stuff to deal with. Haven't ever played Harvest Moon, so I don't have any idea about that.
Anyway, thanks for the info! =w= b [sub](<-Thumbs up face)[/sub]
Ah, cool. It's always nice when a games can remove some of the grindy bits, and add in gay marriage while they're at it. ;3geekremix_Mari said:It's like harvest moon without the grindy bits and you can be gay when you get married. Well, if ya want, there's apparetnly a mod that turns all the animals into Pokemon.weirdee said:It's missing a few of the improvements of Harvest Moon games (in the first real 3DS iteration of the game that wasn't a DS port, it let you pick up and move buildings around), but overall a solid addition to the genre.
Plus, it can be modded, and I'm looking forward to some of the more inventive creations. In particular, I haven't gotten to animals yet, but I would like some way to tell them apart, because that was always my problem in other games.
Well, adding in gay marriage isn't so much an "addition" as it is "not adding a restriction". The game simply doesn't care what gender you are.Imp Emissary said:Ah, cool. It's always nice when a games can remove some of the grindy bits, and add in gay marriage while they're at it. ;3
Also, does it always say "You're mind is filled with thoughts of Penis" when you get a stardrop, or is that some kind of thing I wouldn't get without playing the game? xD
Which, if I'm not mistaken, is an homage to Earthbound, which also asked you what some of your favorite things were during the character naming and then used those answers at various points during the game.Amaror said:Haha, the "You're mind is filled with thoughts of Penis" is from the character creation. When you get a stardrop it always says "You're mind is filled with thoughts of ..." and adds whatever you put as your "favourite thing" during character creation.
Fair point. I suppose it's more of letting gay marriage exist in game, rather than putting it into the game.Amaror said:Well, adding in gay marriage isn't so much an "addition" as it is "not adding a restriction". The game simply doesn't care what gender you are.
geekremix_Mari said:The penis bit is because when you make your character the menu asks what your favorite thing is. So I put "penis".
Huh. Neat. Thought it was something like that.Dalisclock said:Which, if I'm not mistaken, is an homage to Earthbound, which also asked you what some of your favorite things were during the character naming and then used those answers at various points during the game.
Stardew valley is about time management and learning the map. Planning your day ahead of time so as to make the most of it. When you first start off, you will make mistakes. That's part of the charm and the difficulty curve.BiH-Kira said:The game is nice and all, but it has quite a few flaws that discourage me from playing.
Game is kinda unresponsive and sometimes it takes clicking around objects to interact despite the mouse icon changing. The starting map is simply too huge and there are too many people forcing you to waste too much time early learning about all the people. It took me 3 or 4 in game days to actually meet everyone and finish the introduction quest. I just couldn't find Sam. It should have taken the Harvest Moon route. A lot smaller at the start, but with time it adds new people and opens up new places.
Also aside from Sam and the guy lifting weights, no cute or hot guys. A big minus because of that.
I'm not that far into the game to know about aliens.
Except it fails at that.geekremix_Mari said:Stardew valley is about time management and learning the map. Planning your day ahead of time so as to make the most of it. Harvest Moon and Rune Factory are both about time management and learning the map, planing out your days, hell even months ahead if you want the best results. Yet they don't throw you into a huge map with absolutely nothing to help you navigate it.
