Er, I think it's a sub-catagory really. Not all geeks are otakus but all otakus are geeks (comes with calling yourself otaku, really)

Its the whole "Air of Intelligence" thing. Some people are attracted by looks and muscles, others by personality and brainpower. It also may be the glasses. I myself find the smart girls more attractive than the "beautiful" girls.

Give me an average looking smart girl with glasses instead of luscious boobalicious blond!

By 'beautiful girls' do you mean the bleached blondes with an even tan who show of their body parts with small or revealing clothes?

All the smart girls I know are beautiful, they just don't do what most of these bimbo's do.

You find physically attractive people attractive. You find clear skin of whatever color you prefer attractive. You find symmetry attractive. Whether you like DDs or AAs they have to be the same size. Yes, they do. You find a certain body type most attractive, and other body types less attractive. I have yet to find a work of fiction depicting a "sexy geek" that doesn't depict a sexy person independent of geek status.

Look at the girl somebody posted on page 1: She's stunning. What's her profession? Model. Is she smart? Do you know whether she is or not because she's wearing glasses in that picture? Of course not. But you do know whether or not you find her attractive. See what I mean?

Hollywood has decided that it can put a stunning young woman who is a 9 or 10 in unflattering clothing, glasses, and a messy up-do, and give her geek appeal, but they always give her a makeover by the end of the second act.

Your real "geek" stereotypical gamer girl or guy who stays up all night gaming and eating crap food, never gets out in the sun or to the gym, speaks in weird jargon particular to her gaming/anime/academic obsession doesn't have any plans on Saturday night except ones pertaining to said obsession, I guarantee.

I find it attractive when a woman has obviously already won the genetic lottery and topped it off with a robust interest in her own body and society. I have my doubts about people who claim otherwise.

Yeah, but no. You're wrong. Physical looks are certainly very important, as are smells and sounds. It's all genetics. But there's also an entire social role, that can be even more important. For instance, women usually have crushes on strong physiques, but settle with strong minds. Why? Because in a social arena, the strong mind is the Alpha Male. Women choose partners based on social reasons, not physical appearance. Not to say that physique is not very important. But social role comes first.

Add to that then, that we all have our kinks and preferences. I am much more endeared and turned on by "averag" lookin women, than I am by super models. Don't tell me I'm wrong. I just so happens to know what images and ideals I erect react to.

In other words you're not even going to get close enough to the girl you don't find physically attractive to bother finding out what's on the inside. I know our culture condemns that, but it's still true.
