The Cure? Really, The Cure? Thats what you're calling your super drug? YOu could be a bit more inventive.

Anyway, maybe Peta has something when tehy say dont test on animals. Almost always shit like this happens (in the movie world).

Am I the only one who is even remotely excited about this? Franco can be a great actor when he tries (Howl, Pineapple Express, 127 Hours), Serkis is a fantastic mo-cap actor (Fun Fact: he's already played a character named monkey), and the supporting cast is solid.

The film seems to retain a dark tone, and already feels more in line with the originals than Burton's abomination. Plus WETA does fan-fucking-tastic work.

Another fun fact: Director Rupert Wyatt's last film was called The Escapist

the CGI looks great (seriously), but while I haven't seen the original...man it's been spoiled to me (I mean, it happens with movies that old heh), it's still chilling for me

More "SCIENCE IS BAD" BS, a definate miss on this noe
Yeah. Just wait until we start making breakthroughs in genetic engineering. You'll be seeing one of these movies every week.

OT: I thought that the canon said that it was the space station that crashed through the time nebula and then the apes broke loose. I guess they're starting from scratch.
That was how the remake explained things, not the original films.
I haven't seen any of the films... but from what I've heard over the years (spoilers...) the Tim Burton reboot is definitely weaksauce in comparison :/ just not the same shock factor

Not knowing the ending to Planet of the Apes is the same as not knowing the ending of King Kong. Or The Passion. Have you seen that movie yet? JESUS DIES!
JESUS DIES AT THE END OF KING KONG????
Well done sir, your timing is impeccable.

When you get down to it, the first movie is cheesy, but had a more original premise and had a vibe that went well with the cold war and racism, but they were still products of their time and lacked the effects and production capability of modern film, the sequels are all universally panned for their insane breaks with premise and bad story telling.

Tim Burton's was a bad movie, but it was bad on its own merits, the production was good, make up and sets and special effects that still hold up now, but the story was a confusing mess and the ending made less than no sense.

Oh. Oh no. Oh god no!

This is one of the dumbest trailers I have ever seen. As many others have stated, it COMPLETELY changes the idea by removing the thing that made the apes rise. THE NUCLEAR WAR! Without the total collapse of humanity, this whole concept is just stupid and implausible.

Okee dokee! Imma make a movie where apes, zombies, aliens, and robots all rise up against us at the same time. Battle for the Apocalypse it'll be called. "Who Will Win?" will be the catch phrase. Meh it'll be better than this anti science trash at least.

Damn, now I have to watch that. ;)
Now that I think of it, that would be kinda awesome to watch. Hold on, I am going to call Micheal Bay.

I'm glad they're using CGI for the apes, uncanny or not, computer generated images looks a lot more realistic than Joe Jim in a monkey suit hunched over and making snorting noises.

um... so... based on the "plot twist" at the end of the "planet of the apes"... they made a movie... prequel? wow, and it actually looked... not parody like! can't wait to see it!

Ok let?s check the list

Fucking stupid Science is bad message, check

Ironically using a fruit of science to deliver this message through CGI, check

A seemingly complete abandonment of the cannon / message of the original series check

Subtle plagiarism (secrets of NIHM), check

Pointless, absurd action sequence to attract the attention of the human magpies (ohhhh shiny), check

I wonder if, through the use of my foresight I can guess the end of this film,
Assuming they don?t abandon everything cannon to the films they are intending to prequel, a few apes become intelligence through science evil as it is they begin knocking helicopters out of the sky humans overreact and instead of shooting them with there thousands of yeas of accumulated military and knowledge they turn to evil science (nuke?s) and end up wiping themselves out, all to take out a few hundred apes shoe horned Love interest, religious we should keep our heads up our asses and never have gone to the mood, cured small pox message, end credits

I hope I?m wrong.

I would have liked this better if it was more like:

"Go science! It will change everything for the better!"

And then it does. But humans aren't in the picture anymore.

EDIT: Also, I can't not think about the Nostalgia Chick when it comes to tripe like this: http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thedudette/nostalgia-chick/27542-nchick-playing-god

Seriously, Hollywood seems pretty bankrupt when it comes to ideas. The trailer is decently made, but Im not buying it. There desperately needs to be more originality in hollywood.

Oh great, another Sci-Fi movie that uses the fiction part to bash the science part.

'Some things aren't meant to be changed' the SECOND I heard that I knew what this movie was going to be like.
I hear you on that one. Every now and then, there a lines like "the neutrinos are mutating into..." (from 2012) where you just want to throw something at the screen.
