Geometry Wars Now Accessible to Windows XP Owners

The popular and off-beat arcade shooter Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved can can now be enjoyed on the PC [http://shacknews.com/laryn.x?story=47484] outside of the small percentage of people running Windows Vista, Shacknews reported.

Developed by Bizarre Creations, the title can be purchased via Valve's online game distribution and verification network, Steam, for just $2.50, until June 22, after which the price will increase to $3.95. It will run on Windows XP.

The same title on the Xbox 360 is worth 400 Microsoft Points, or $5, via Microsoft's own online console store.

There was a freeware clone of Geometry Wars, by the name of Grid Wars - very, almost copyright-infringingly similar - but it seems it was taken down by the programmer, unwilling to risk a legal entanglement with Microsoft. Not that it shouldn't be hard to find a mirror somewhere.
