Censoring games clearly labeled to be only accessible for adults over the age of 18 anyway.
Tax money well spent.
This needs to be restated a hundred times.

Seriously don't we all believe if you're over 18 you should be able to buy any game you damn well please?

I'm curious, but what prevents German gamers from buying it on steam(maybe they control that too)\buying it from amazon or other stuff like eBay?\pirating it? (not that I'm encouraging pirating but the government there sure does)

A friend of mine currently resides in the UK for a few months... i'v never bought as many games as i am doing right now... or rather: she is ;)

The UK versions are also always cheaper (30% in case of Borderlans GotY, WTF?!) so i'm also saving myself some money (even when including shipping - as i usually import them).
just on that note if ur in europe or asia u can buy everything from amazone uk even once ur friend aint there anymore and its still MUCH cheaper specially with the pound being worth roughly the same as the kongo denari :p
if u got a german ip steam is gona sell u the weakest version of anything they got im talkin bout tetris without sharp edges cuz thats dangerous sorta shit :(

#1 Get STEAM
#2 Drive over the border
#3 buy and download bullet storm
#4 ???
#4 Profit

Worked for other "censored" titles. Or just import it.. sucks, sure, but it has been like this since forever. Or like 1998.

What!? Is it a fucking POLICE STATE over there or something!?

It's fine to say "kids can't buy a game this violent"

It's not fine to say "This game is too violent for ADULTS"

and it's a fucking JOKE to say "You can't gather information on this game until late at night"

The goverment doesn't quite surprisingly, but steam germany is pretty conservative. even if the uncensored version is rated 18 in german, they'll still give you the censored version.
Whether your german or not is verified by ip (easy to circumvent) and by bank account (basiclly impossible for the majority).
I assume they do that because they sell without age verification and want to stay under the radar. A 12 year old can buy dragon age (18 here) via steam.
While you are allowed to buy anything import if your 18 you are extremly handycapt on steam.
Unless you have friends that gift you stuff of course.

I say fuck the USK. EA should just ship a bunch of extra copies to Austria and other countries on the border for the Germans to get their hands on.

So your editing a game that was only meant for adults anyway? Geez, kind of insulting the German market there.

"We can't trust you with that level of gore."

"But I'm 21..."

"No exceptions."

Methinks Steam is your friend. Well that and crossing the border.

For a company that's so gung-ho about sex, not to mention starting World War I and its sequel, Germany is awfully funny about censoring thing.

That was the first thing I started thinking.

I suppose that I might Youtube some German Gameplay.

If there even is any, now that I think about it.

Who would buy such a limited product?

Who thought it'd be a good idea to sell it in germany anyway?
Considering we are a huuuuge market for games, it'd be illogical for any big developer/publisher not to sell their products here.

Anyway, to those who've mentioned Steam: No, Steam is not your friend. As it stands, even if you buy an uncut version from the international market and then install the game, Steam recognizes your location and automatically cuts your version to conform with German censorship standards imposed on the localized version. So there.

Doesn't matter to me in this case, anyway. Preordered the X360 version from Austria weeks ago. Suck it, USK motherfuckers.

It's mind boggling that in Australia it was rated MA15+ and is completely uncensored. We feel for you Germany.

But because it doesn't carry a USK seal, it can be banned or "indexed" by the country's youth protection board.
Wait, so if it's offensive to youth, it just get's banned for everybody?

That's some damned bullshit.

You Germans and Australasians need to protest.

Yeah, last time this happened, all the savvy German gamers just bought their copies from Austria, so they got German language in the game and the full uncensored game, and Germany got ZERO tax money from any of the thousands upon thousands of sales.

WD Germany.

IF the UK went batshit insane over sex or violence, you can bet I'd be ordering all my games from Jersey or Guernsey, two tiny islands about 20 miles off the south coast, but not considered part of the UK.

Amazon, Play, etc all ship a lot of their stuff from there, because it's a massive tax dodge.

In fact, top tip, if you're playing WOW, AMazon and Play only charge £16 for the 60 day cards, as they're skipping on the tax.

It's entirely legal, if perhaps morally dubious.

Hmm I played through GoW3 in Germany, and it was still pretty grisly. I wonder if you can tell if a game has been censored or not, or if it tells you somewhere.
