Get 10 Free Hearthstone Whispers of the Old Gods Card Packs From Launch Quest

During yesterday's Hearthstone live stream showing off the upcoming Whispers of the Old Gods expansion [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/167215-Hearthstone-Whispers-of-the-Old-Gods-Expansion-Release-Date], Blizzard announced a couple of special launch quests that will net players free card packs. These quests will only be available during launch week.

The first quest tasks you with winning two games in Standard mode, the new mode where older cards aren't allowed. Do it, and you'll get five free card packs.

For the second quest, you'll have to win seven more matches of Standard, which will reward you with five more card packs.

You'll even get a reward just for showing up, as anyone who logs in next week with the expansion will receive three free cards.

Standard is the newest game mode for Hearthstone. First announced back in February [http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/blog/19995505/a-new-way-to-play-2-2-2016], it doesn't allow the use of cards from older expansions, which seems intended to make the game more friendly to newcomers who lack the massive card collections of long-time players.

Damn! 10 packs! With the gold we've accumulated, it's gonna be an interesting month of Mai, that's for sure!

Wow, that's cool. Kinda feel dumb that I just bought the 50 pack preorder just now. Oops.

Also, just a note, you did make one small mistake. "You'll even get a reward just for showing up, as anyone who logs in next week with the expansion will receive three free cards." It's three free card packs, not just three cards. Small error, but might want to fix it.

I'm really glad we are getting a standard rotating format in the game, and I am really glad the escapist reported the free packs so I can make sure to get them.

Next I hope they do something about getting a better limited format into the game, arena is terrible these days.

I think Naxrammas cards are rotated out too, I could be wrong.

Yep, Naxx, Goblins vs Gnomes, and oddly, the couple of cards in the Rewards set, like Old Murk Eye and ETC, are all going to be rotated out of 'Standard'. You can still play them in the new 'Wild' mode, though.
