Unfortunately the DLC is still a mess for the game, if you own it for the PC its basically the exact same mess that it is with a CD or Steam install. I have an archive of all the DLC on my USB thumbdrive and manually install it every time, which seems to be the most reliable way to get it to work.J Tyran said:Not bad, even just the base game is well worth playing. I wonder if I can get it so its added to Origin and then log in and get all my DLC and expansions from the Bioware site in one place, reinstalling all those expansions and gear items is time consuming and annoying.
On Steam it included all the DLC as well. This Origin free game only includes Dragon Age: Origins, no DLC.DaWaffledude said:GAH! I just bought this on Steam a few days ago. Why must you be so cruel, universe?
So even on Origin it won't just download and install all the DLC and other content? Thanks, saves me going to the trouble of fiddling with it to find out.Sanunes said:Unfortunately the DLC is still a mess for the game, if you own it for the PC its basically the exact same mess that it is with a CD or Steam install. I have been using Origin since Mass Effect 3 was released and since that time EA has constantly improved their service. My biggest issue with it was when it was first announced the EULA was a little too vague, but since then it basically matches Steam. One of the other things that I am not sure if many people know about is if you own any EA games that were released prior to the launch of Origin you can just enter the CD Key there and not buy the games again.
One thing that makes Origin better for Dragon Age: Origins then Steam is that you don't need to have Origin running in the background to play the game so there isn't the conflict that can cause the game to crash.
Sadly the answer is not always, so it won't be any better then another copy of the game. My personal belief is that this is a two-fold problem because of the internal programming of the game to support mods coupled with it being designed around Windows Vista, for that was the only OS I didn't have a problem with the game (I just had problems almost everywhere else). I do think they are trying to get the DLC to install via the Origin client for they have been able to get it to work with Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2, and even have a couple of the Dragon Age: Origins DLC available for purchase that way as well, but its not all of it and it still can be unreliable.J Tyran said:So even on Origin it won't just download and install all the DLC and other content? implying there are not legitimate reasons to hate EA...Steven Bogos said:EA = Ebola Aids literally Hitler HUE HUE HUE and all that I suppose.Nurb said:If it requires Origin it's still not worth it.
Do people not get tired of hating on stuff just because all their internet friends do?
It doesn't come with Stone Prisoner, sadly. That's my main beef with it. Still, DA:O, even totally vanilla, is so much better on PC than console, it's not even funny. And I'm normally a console gamer.Happiness Assassin said:What I find funny about the article is that in the picture, the main character is fighting the Harvester (from the Golems of Amgarrak dlc) with what appears to be Starfang (a longsword that appears in the Warden's Keep dlc) and neither of these are given with this deal. It is just the base game (also some other promo stuff if you go looking for it).
Also, I don't know if it comes with this, but anyone who downloads the game should check to see if they have the Stone Prisoner dlc. It should be free now and contains a good tank character to use.
