Hmm, if this will be set in the '60's or '70's it has my tentative seal of approval. Modern day MacGyver would be meh.
I don't know, I want to see a modern MacGyver using knowledge gleaned from years of TV and internet totackle impossible problems.
Granted, it would look more like an episode of Jackass, but still.

3) R.D.A. was far better in the Stargate SG-1 series than he ever was in McGyver. The reason was that he wasn't the main solo focus, but instead was one of a multi-cast of main characters who set the plot. Those co-stars helped prop him up during the series that really elevated TV sci-fi shows.
It really was the overall chemistry of the cast that sold that show to me. RDA is definitely awesome, but without Michael Shanks or Chris Judge or Amanda Tapping, it probably wouldn't have been as cool.
Hell, even the supporting cast was pretty damn awesome.

Quantum Leap has my vote.

Too hard.
Why think of a new original series when you can reboot some shit someone with imagination conceived decades agos.
The irony being that this complaint is older than MacGyver. And given that adaptation and remakes have been around almost as long as film, it seems a little hollow to complain about.
A more accurate idea is that Hollywood has no reason to, because people will buy up almost any 80s nostalgia they can get their hands on.
