Death, Taxes and Cartoon Network.

I at least hope they're allowed to finish off this season of Young Justice with some closure, but that would be too good to be true.

How many cartoons do they have running now? Cause this image comes to mind.

Blargh I'm really gunna miss Young Justice...
I never watched cartoon network as you had to have cable (foxtel) however I find regular show and world of gumball to be waaaaaaaay better than the stuff in that first image...thats just me as an adult though
How can you find World of Gumball to be better than Samurai Jack or Batman or PPG or The Flinstones or Scooby-Doo? Though I don't think the image is about the quality, but the quantity.

Five steps forward, a hundred steps back as usual with this Station.

I'd actually still watch cartoon network habitually IF they actually had something good on it like the days of yore.

Actually now that I think about it, I STOPPED watching cartoon network because they removed Toonami and the other really great cartoons and started shoveling the most pandering BS I've ever seen. (by which I mean the real life stuff, I watched Cartoon Network to get away from that crap)

Thankfully, the current cartoons are pretty much just fine, like Regular Show and Adventure Time. Overall I find Regular Show to be much more interesting as it appears to be less formulaic than Adventure Time which for some reason bothers me enough to like Adventure Time less than Regular Show.

That, and Regular Show is hilarious in the way it takes overall simple things and turns it into a fantastic scenario. The abstractions being quite clever along with the cultural allusions. My favorite one being the sorta subtle reference to that Macintosh ad '1984'.

I wish they've kept the more kid-like oldschool cartoons like ed edd n eddy and powerpuff girls, most new shows kinda suck some are good but not as good as the older ones, maybe it's just me that grew up watching those cartons, i still watch it even though i'm 21 now, adventure time is awesome too

CN has disappointed me for a while now. I sort of watch it only because of adventure Time, Regular Show and Gumball, maybe. Oh, and Adult Swim, if I feel like watching FMA:B reruns. And...*sigh* Sym-biotic Titan. God, that show is good.
AND IT WAS ALSO AXED!

But fuck, how did Annoying Orange get another season?! As a Youtube thing, it was...fine, I guess, because it was just a small dosage of annoying. But seriously, watching it for more than 2 minutes is just torture. Same jokes, bad content, predictable, just plain, boring and dumb. True, something like, let's say, Spongebob is not meant to be Shakesperian but at least its better than Orange!

And they wonder why more and more people are abandoning cable TV.

Yeah, I'm also looking at you, Nickelodeon. But that's for another day...

Hopefully another network (Adult Swim for one) can pickup Young Justice and Green Lantern (thrown in to be fair) and run new episodes.
I wouldn't be surprised if they appear on Toonami at some point like Thundercats and Sym-Bionic Titan. Two decent animated shows Cartoon Network cancelled as well.

Dammit, Cartoon Network...
Whoa, whoa, whoa! They cancelled Thundercats?! Why?! I admit I was skeptical about that reboot at first but it's really good, maybe better than the original! And I love the original! What the flying fuck, CN?!
I'm not even gonna start on Sym-Biotic Titan. That poor, beautiful show...

Okay, the lesson here is: If you like a show in CN, don't get attached to it. Except for maybe Adventure Time, which seems to be the only thing CN cares about anyway.

What's truly sickening, to me at least, is that in addition to axing Young Justice (never watched Green Lantern: TAS ) but they are bringing back these shows-

? Almost Naked Animals

? Scaredy Squirrel

? Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc.

? Johnny Test

? Annoying Orange

This move just goes to show that Cartoon Network is the Fox of cartoons. Shows with thought out, intelligent overarching story-lines and well-rounded multidimensional characters get cut and shows with three or four different plots and flat or one-dimensional characters continue to get renewed.

Hopefully another network (Adult Swim for one) can pickup Young Justice and Green Lantern (thrown in to be fair) and run new episodes.
OK THAT FUCKING DOES IT johnny test i can stand but the other shows I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS!!!!!!! JOHNSON!!, THROW EVERYTHING WE HAVE AT THEM!!
Johnson: gladly sir fire everything
soldier: everything sir?
Johnson: EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

I swear, CN has been on the decline since 2004.

List of good cartoons they have removed since 2000:

Samurai Jack
Johnny Bravo
Courage
Megas XLR
innumerable amounts of Toonami anime

Seeing as the first pic has Scooby-Doo, Flintstones, and Looney Toons in that picture I definitely disagree with you on that. (Not to mention Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff girls, and Johnny Bravo. But come on, Looney Toons man...)

For most of 7 years now CN has been a joke they couldn't even finish Samurai Jack and when they get a good show like Foster's they cancel it and stick Johnny Test in as filler (a show that wasn't even good enough for Saturday television).
I don't even have cable now mostly because there's nothing to watch. When I go over to my friends' apartment they basically channel surf till they see something like 1000 ways to die then they force themselves to watch it to justify paying for the drivel.

Show's like Regular Show are pretty original but I just wait till Netflix has them and watch them all at once.

...Meh. Didn't really get into either shows.

On the plus side, I was a huge fan of Teen Titans, and I don't really care that this Teen Titans Go! thing is going to be comedy based. So yeah, kind of excited for that. (Thought it wasn't successful enough, this is a pleasant surprise.)
Based off the blurbs I've seen of Teen Titans GO! its basically just goin to be an extended version of the animated shorts that played durin DC Nation which I'm...skeptical about.

Don't get me wrong. I love Teen Titans. Even with the more mature storylines of Young Justice I'd still rather watch old Teen Titans episodes (though a lot of that has to do with me bein a massive fanboi of Raven and Beast Boy to the point I wasted money on the Ravagers comics...multiple times. I'll never get that time back I wasted on those shitty comics). The animated shorts they did durin DC nation were all hilarious and were probably the best skits they had (I did really dig that watercolor one they did though and whatever the newest one is).

That bein said its one thing to make a funny skit that lasts all of a minute and a half. Its entirely anothing thing to stretch that skit over a 22 minute episode.

Edit -

Ya know whats the most frustratin thing about this? Its like CN wanted these shows canceled. They randomly and completely without warnin stopped showin new episodes in the middle of a season and then went directly from season 1 to season 2 without so much as a week off. Considerin the massive time jump that happened in Young Justice durin this time, it left me horribly confused to the point I thought I missed an episode. Even worse when they went on break again in the middle of Season 2, they gave absolutely no warnin to anyone.

Literally. No one knew this would happen. The people workin on the shows learned about it via press release. The press release happened THE DAY THE SHOWS WERE DELAYED. It happened so quickly and so abruptly that my friggin DVR continued to record Young Justice and Green Lantern for 3 weeks despite the recordin actually bein for that god awful How to Train Your Dragon cartoon.

I was excited because the season of both had just kicked off again... and now they do this. Modern cartoons are really suffering it seems, many can't seem to break past 2 seasons.

Young Justice
Green Lantern
Clone Wars
Archer
Slugterra
Friendship is Magic
Thundercats
Dragons: Riders of Berk
Avatar: Legend of Kor(r?)a

Those are the modern shows I have enjoyed watching and most have been or are being cancelled. I'm not a fan of adventure time as I find it a bit more wacky than I care for, I prefer my shows to have a long term plot structure.

Beware the Batman might be good but the new Teen Titans looks like rubbish, it already was comical with its anime design and tropes but now they want to focus on that even more? It'll be unbareable for me.

The only reason to really pop over to cartoon network anymore is for Toonami (here's hoping for another season of deadman wonderland)
I think Deadman wonderland ran outa funding several years ago so they had to cut the series very abruptly. So sadly there isn't going to be a second season.

OT: Yeah I started losing hope in Cartoon network when they stopped showing Courage the cowardly dog. I miss my nostalgia
Actually you'll be pleased to know there is still a chance that a 2nd season to come to fruition, given that the manga will soon start up again, once Jinsei Kataoka finishes her maternity leave. If the new manga gains interest, a second anime season could well be green-lit.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.co.uk/news/2012-12-26/deadman-wonderland-manga-to-return-from-hiatus

Hell I love DW so much I painted Shiro's face on my Fender Stratocaster, I'm sure there are more fans who would pay good money on new material.
Hopefully so. Deadman Wonderland is freakin' awesome. I was actually really dissapointed that it stopped where it did.
I mean, yeah, some of the plot points are painfully predictable, but the good chracterization and great premise totally make up for it! It was my main reason for sticking with the new Toonami!

...but yeah, I also agree with the OP. I hate that they're cancelling YJ and GL for two basterdized versions of older shows (Teen Titans Go's creators never even watched the old series, and yet another Batman cartoon. Yay.)
