OP knows what he's talking about. The SECOND I saw this thread title, I thought, "How far down the list will I have to go to find Borderlands, I wonder?"

Alas. I lol'd

Oh, Borderlands for me, too.

Saints Row 2's ending (the final final ending, not the end of the Ultor missions) felt a bit like the game trailed off, especially after the Ultor finale. That may be because I never played the first game and didn't fully understand what was going on. I wasn't too pleased that you never actually got to own Saints Row itself either.

Halo 3. Even the secret ending sucked. Just another massive cliffhanger, and I can't possibly think of a way to continue the story of master chief from then on without making the series even goofier.

KotOR 2 and Mass Effect 2, that latter because of random* deaths.

*Yes, yes, yes, I know that they're not really random, but that's exactly how many of them felt at the time.

The ending for Crysis was terrible IMO. Well, the entire alien thing made it ten times worse but whatever.

Lol, thank you for using the spoilers. Mine would be Halo 2, because while most games end on cliffhangers, this is the only one that ever really got to me.

For me it was Fahrenheit it had a really intriguing storyline up until
{ancient cyborgs attempting to kidnap a psychic messiah child for world domination}
I thought the game was punishing me for something.

Probably the end of Eternal Sonata. Jesus christ that blew. I was happy that a character in an RPG was actually angry at someone's death by saying words like "Damn" as opposed to "Darn". Then it all had to go the other way.

Oh and God, why FFX! WHY?! It was such a good ending, but so disappointing...And, i can't believe I'm saying this, but even I, an uber-fan of Kingdom Hearts, thought that the ending of the second one really sucked. The cutscenes an hour previous were cool, and I would have preffered:

Riku and Sora staying in Darkness rather than going back for that blatant and pathetic excuse for another game. They still could have had another game, why send the two of them back to Destiny/Happy-Go-Lucky island where Sora could get jiggy and Riku ends up single, and badass. Why!?

would have to agree with the guys who said Fallout 3, and also add oblivion. Both games are great to play, but if you play the main storyline ONLY, it turns out that they are quite short and the endings are naff. The stuff outside the storyline is much more fun.

I'm voting for Halflife. Zen sucked something fierce. Timed platforming in a first person perspective whilst enemies spawn just to knock you off? Not my idea of a good time. Also Fallout 3 without Broken Steel is major wall-banger.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I loved Xen...except for its shitty end level. I had a savegame specifically so I could do a Xen run to kill a couple of hours. One time started with no ammo, another time I went through whilst on LSD. THAT was fun. Let's see, games with disappointing boss fights? Gears of War 2 and Painkiller. I killed Lucifer without even meaning to!

I think most games struggle in the third act. As already stated, Bioshock is a prime example. That's why I loved Mass Effect. The beginning was actually kind of boring, but it kept getting better, until the awesome ending, where-HOLY FUCK GIANT METAL SPACE SQUID!

But the biggest offender for awesome game, shit ending has to be KOTOR 2. It simply wasn't finished.

its not necissarily a bad ending, but God or War II's ending just left me with a whole lot of "god fucking damnit"

The ending of Fallout 2 seemed a bit... eh. I mean, Frank Horrigan was pretty cool and all, but we're essentially shown two clips of him being a heartless bastard and then he wants to stop us from leaving the oil rig because... ?

You'd think somebody as heartless as Horrigan would want to get the hell out of that oil rig so he could continue terrorising people, not act as an arbitrary final boss. That said, it was rather cathartic to watch him split into two pieces before his death, so perhaps that makes up for it.
You why Fallout 2 's ending seemed like shit? Because the first had 2 awesome endings. I would have been happy with just killing the president (hello FBI agent how are you doing?)

From what I'm reading about Borderlands, I'm glad I never played it. And I can't believe I forgot about FarCry 2. That ending was shit. I'm not bothering with spoilers, because people should be warned about an ending this retarded. I agreed with your buddies. Fuck the Jackal, he was a pretentious prick. For a game that had so much emphasis on freedom of choice to end like that was a complete cop-out. The second time through (there were some guns I hadn't used the first time) I torched his little shack and turned the game off. Roasting that asshole was closure enough for me. There aren't even any good fights after that.

no spoliers but after all the effort of, oh i dunno, FIGHTING HELL, that certain female romantic interests would be more happy but whatever and the lame 'to be continued'? :/
What confused me most about the ending is:

How the hell are they going to make Purgatory into a good sequel, let alone a good video game? What are you going to fight?

Why so? It wasn't enormously epic but t'was still good imo

Anyway, Borderlands... I went with the grind and whatever the hell else I had to do just because I needed a little closure, like who was that mysterious character and what the hell is in the Vault then.
Oh I loved the game, and how dark it was and such. Just after the feeling of acoplishment the first game left you with (dark or light) this game just left you with nothing.

I know its because it was rushed but really what happened? I just left to find Revan? thats it? Maybe a paragrah on each of my fellow party members.

Though I cant believe their just gonna push the date 200 years or so for the new MMO. I really want to know what happened to Revan and my Exile. It better take an entire quest line to find out. And not just a paragraph from on NPC

The Matrix: The Path Of Neo.

I was really enjoying it right up untill the end when the Wachowski? Brothers come on screen as animated 3D pixel men saying that it would make the game shit if all that happened at the end after the epic neo-smith battle was that you died... they then proceeded to explain how it would be more epic and awesome if all the smiths combined into a giant tower of smiths creating a giant smith. Which then proceeds to throw cars at you which in no way are hard to avoid.. you throw shit back which always hits taking out a few smith minions with it, rinse and repeat untill smith monster is dead. The End.

Just for the record, this was in no way epic or awesome. It was incredibly easy and a huge let down and also really confusing. I'm sure that the smiths could have collaborated together in some more effective way than just a giant car throwing monster.

*Edit* How do i do the spoiler warnings? i would have done it for this but i couldnt find out how but i needed to express my rage! ;). Not that anyone would care.. anyway, a tip would be nice :D
